Great little hike, made a bit more difficult by some areas of deeper snow. Spikes were good, snowshoes would have been better. I can't wait to do this hike again and explore more of the trails once it's thawed a bit. The brook is beautiful and it is amazingly quiet. It was well marked aside from a couple of key places like at power lines and the trail junction, not too difficult to guess correctly though and probably more than easy to figure out if there were not snow and no previous tracks.

One of the best views in Maine! The last half mile is a pretty good hike uphill. The snow isn’t packed down in all the areas. Hiked up with my running shoes and spikes - worked fine enough! First part of the trail is as wide as a road and perfect for cross country skiing.

Great snowshoeing trail along the brook.

Easy hike, fabulous views, especially considering the effort.

This is a great, easy trail. One of our favorite places to hike.

We did this one in the fall as well, and it really is more easy than moderate. Snowshoes weren’t really necessary, because it is a snowmobile trail, and nicely packed. A couple of snowmobiles went by as we hiked, we simply stepped to the side and let them pass. I personally did not feel this took away from the hike in anyway. It is nearly mid March so the snow was on the softer side. I would recommend crampons, or any sort of traction device for the push up near the summit, it is not steep really, but still for safety, a good idea.

Alright trail.

Awesome short hike. Went in March, so the trail was completely covered in ice and snow. The waterfalls and river frozen over made for an incredible sight. We were lucky that snowshoe tracks made navigating the trail less slippery, but there are plenty of trees along the route to grab on to when balance feels precarious. If you’ve never seen the trail in winter, it is definitely worthwhile!

Amazing walk overlooking the ocean. Stunning views of the ocean, boats and large homes. There are benches along the way and many beautiful photo opportunities. We followed the trail to Perkins Cove for some shopping and lunch before following it back to our car. The only con is that this is a very trafficked trail. We will definitely visit this trail again!

Great views for such a short hike.

Love the Northern Loop & Boundary trails. Varied forests & beautiful trails.

I have done this walk many times over the years. The trail passes over family land. Love the river.

Not much to see with binoculars, still early in this season.

love the rail trail

Great mountain to hike! All different kinds of terrain. Summit is awesome and plenty of room to stretch out and have a snack!

I walked this yesterday 56* sunny in Maine , that was a treat. Small parking lot. trail well marked( BLUE ). Old foundation and lots of great stonewalls. some of the largest ground ledges I have seen in the area, very cool.

We've gone there twice from the north entrance. Once hiking and once snow shoeing. Both times we had the picnic table at the field to ourselves. Nice to have an outhouse at the beginning and at the field.

I drove that stretch of road twice with my daughter on Mountain Ave between College and Main. The only place that wasn't a house or driveway head no trespassing signs. It was a waste of time to look for it.

This is a wonderful urban trail system with well-marked trails of green, yellow, red and white markers. Portland Trails has done a great job marking and maintaining the trail (including pointing out what plants are invasive). There are several marked posts containing a number but I have yet to find what these numbers represent. Hopefully, someone will post what they represent. Dogs can run free once they get beyond 300 yards from the parking area.

Not challenging at all. Very disappointing. Pics made it look like you went to a top of a quarry. You don't. It's a loop around an old landfill and a tiny bit of woods to walk in. Basically an extension of the dog park.

Good winter hike, easy to follow trail.

Great off leash place for your dog! Beautiful views, and great trails!

Great walk! Leads right to an amazing beach!

Did this hike with snow and ice on the ground but the trail was well packed down. I wore ice cleats and I’m glad I did as there were several steep sections where it was slick ice. There were some steep inclines where I felt very winded but overall a moderate hike. Well marked trails and gorgeous views at the ledges.

The South Face Loop is VERY challenging in snow shoes for a newbie!
I will return!

Super fun and scenic!

Well marked and easy to traverse, but every dog was off-leash, which made it hard to walk with my 3 year old. He kept getting knocked over by excited puppies. The trail was to supposed to be a leashed area, so we weren’t expecting that.

Went after fresh snow with solid ice underneath the powder which made it slippery at times, but a pretty easy stroll to the top. The history of the hut at top is neat and good views of the ocean.
