on Cliff Trail

Absolutely beautiful!!! We went on the Friday before the 4th of July, to avoid some of the crowds we felt could be there on the weekends. There was plenty of parking, and we only saw a few groups on the trail. The majority of the hike is wooded, and along the the cliffs, with great views!n There were some mosquitos, but if you kept moving you were fine, and while along the ocean cliffs there was enough breeze to keep them away, but bring bug spray! Can’t wait to hike this again!

Great trail! Well marked and not buggy! A perfect length to fit into any part of the day!

This was a lovely trail through the woods in Harpswell. There were a lot of mosquitos and the trail had a lot of roots and leaves, but that is to be expected of most trails in Maine I think. We were very pleasantly surprised at all of the lady slippers we saw along the way. Dozens and dozens all along the trail in bloom (June 13) It was a real treat!

It’s a great walk in the woods not too far from Portland, it is by no means intense compared to other hikes in the white mountains! No bugs and I loved the coastal views.

Amazing trail. Go early to get there before it gets crowded. Lots of exposed roots so watch where you walk. No waterfall on the Cliff Trail might be too dry. Beautiful views from the cliff with spots to sit for a bit.

Easy trail, very well marked, but loaded with roots. Great place to take the kids but I wouldn’t take anyone who isn’t sure footed. A great place to sit out on the rocks and watch the tide.

This is one of my favorite trails. Recommend going at high tide, but even low tide is absolutely beautiful and allows for access down to the waterfront at parts of the trail. Lots of tree roots throughout so watch out for that, but it’s a wonderful little challenge and a great morning or afternoon hike. The fairy houses throughout the trails are my favorite part! And the views from the cliff are breathtaking! Highly recommend, possibly during the week when the trails aren’t so busy. Pack some snacks and take your time along this one, you won’t regret it.

On a weekday in May, there wasn’t anyone else on the trail. There are more water views here than on the East side and a few places to sit on rocks by the water. Part of the trail follows an old stone wall. It’s an easy walk. Parking is on the other side of the road.

While we are not closing the trail, we are limiting the parking and number of people on the weekends (experiencing 400+ people on Saturdays alone). Please consider visiting one of the other 17 trails in Harpswell and be prepared with a back up plan if the parking is full. Please be considerate of other hikers and socially distance. I thought it was moderate rather than easy but I believe we got off the trail and cli.bed a sterp hill to get back on the trail. Love it.

Wonderful trails with beautiful views. Popular though, so don't expect seclusion.

A really great trail with so much to offer. I’d say it leans more toward the easy side, than moderate. Well marked trails make navigation a snap. They’re well maintained, clean, and the views from atop the cliffs are beautiful. Those cliffs are no joke, as they are about 150’ high, so caution is urged but there are lots of places for great views and photos. Definitely well worth it to check this one out!
