Hikes in the fall when leaves were falling. Trail markers were a little hard to find and not much of a view from the top. Maybe better when leaves are completely off the trees. Not bad otherwise, has some decent incline and feels like a quiet walk in the woods

HikingGreat!

The hike was very nice, just strenuous enough for a new hiker (my hiking partner) to know she did something without being so hard as to discourage her. We’d planned on hiking Pleasant Mountain via Ledges yesterday but when we saw how many vehicles were parked in the lot we changed our minds. By the time we got to Mt. Tom Preserve it was around 4pm, but I always have at least 2 headlamps in my pack so up we went! We saw 2 other hikers, they were getting back to their car as we were changing into hiking shoes. The trail really needs to be marked better. I’m sure that when the leaves are on the trees it’s easy to follow, but with everything 4” deep in leaves the trail itself is almost invisible and there were very few times when you could see the next blaze from the one you were at. Gong up it wasn’t bad but we made it maybe 1/4 mile down before needing headlamps and it was easy to lose the trail in places. We bushwhacked, and thanks to the AllTrails map and my pretty good sense of direction we intersected the trail within a few hundred yards both times. So please, go out and paint more blazes so the next one is visible from the one where you are! Still a very fun hike, I’d definitely do it again if I’m in the area. Hopefully on snowshoes this winter.

Nice trail, but lots of leaves so it can be very slippery. It took us under 4 hr but we stopped a lot and add the look out ridge, also I suggest that the trail be hiked clockwise, it will be easier to climb the steps rocks

Really enjoyed the climb and did the loop clockwise which I think is the best way to do it. Hike with my dog and must say there were a few interesting spots for him. Will definitely do it again

It was a beautiful trail but there was more bouldering than I was prepared for. I thought the trail was well marked.

Hard to follow at times due to the fallen leaves. White marks on the trees are frequent enough to stay on track. Not much for views at the top, but overall a fun little hike.

HikingGreat!

This is a truly beautiful hike my crew was lucky to do as fall is at its peak. As others suggested go left when you start to avoid having to go down the steepest part to save your knees. Hiking time was about 4-4,5hrs but took some long breaks to enjoy the views at the top and the gorge at the bottom.

Fantastic hike. Views were terrific. But if you decide to go hiking please don’t go drunk and in flip-flops. We ran across a group doing just that on the White Cairn Trail. Going up that drunk and on flip-flops is just insane.

Easy hike :) Beautiful swimming hole! Seriously clear water! Only regret; wish we would have hiked it on a hot summer day..

HikingGreat!Private propertyScramble

A must do during the fall season. Good moderate hike. 90% of the hike is shaded- the mountain top and the last stretch to parking lot is not. We did it clockwise after chatting with an older gentleman who does the hike every weekend. It was the Sunday of labour weekend and surprisingly we did not encounter a lot of people on the trail (we reached the parking lot around 10 am). It’s a steep scramble via well placed rocks but the views at the top are amazing. We are hoping to do it again the fall as the colors will be gorgeous from the top. We had about one bottle per head (3 humans and 2 shepherds). The rattlesnake pool looked amazing and the gentleman we met at the start of our hike was right- 90% of the folks come to the pool and do not do the hike. We encountered our biggest crowd at the pool (25-30 people).
