Ran this with Rick Collins for spartan race training. Perfect for this!!
Tried taking kids and dog up and it was boring. It’s Jeep road with nothing to see. Until you get to the fire tower and that’s locked.

Over all it’s great because it’s good exercise and close by

Enjoyed this hike. Not many people on it today but it was chilly and overcast

Ran it in loose snow on the road/snowmobile trail, trying to prepare for a spartan race. The snow made it a good challenge. Parked at Waterboro town hall and started from the beginning of McLucas. Round trip just over 5 miles.

very boring. no trail just atv/jeep dirt road

Hard to walk trail on account of the loose rocks and sand from when it rains down the trail. I didn't summit because it was difficult to find a path up the rocky unstable road. But easy to find, I parked about .50 miles from the trail head. It was a nice easy walk in, past a cemetery and private cabin. I will go back and try again sometime. I am kind of surprised this is listed as Easy due to trail condition.

Another decent hike close to home. Was a bit chilly in early May. Easy enough hike with a dog. Sat under the fire tower at the summit and had an adult soda. Moderate walk uphill.

Not sure how many times I've sauntered up this hill to the tower, but good for everyone. Large dirt track that Jeep's and wilderness firefighters traditionally used to reach the tower, portions of this are well maintained for the propose of reaching the cell towers. Nice views if you climb the tower. Fireworks are viewable if you climb on or around the 4th of July.

Ok hike, really confusing to find the right trail. The hike it self was a great exercise due to the trail being overused by atv's and jeeps. I'm going to try again and hopefully find the right trail! Grrrrr

I think this is a ATV trail, to get to it's very confusing ( lots of no trespassing signs everywhere ) and it was so muddy and full of ditches from ATV wheels that I really couldn't enjoy hiking or running on it. However, the road leading to it is 0.5 miles flat and no traffic that was good for a quick run.

The vast majority of this hike is a bland, unattractive steady ascent up a rocky gravel jeep road. Decent workout. There is a nice 1800's cemetery on the right shortly after starting.

Near the top, the first fork on right that has a metal gate just takes you up to a cell phone tower. The one marked "Land Trust", takes you up to a nicely treed summit area with the best views. The final trail on the right, at the end of the road, is the one that takes you up to the fire tower, which to be honest was kinda underwhelming/anti-climatic.

This was a fun simple hike. Good exercise for me and my dog. I almost stepped on a snake on two different occasions. I would do this hike again.

A simple trail for new hikers, but bland and unchallenging for most.
