We took a vacation through maine and the last big thing was to hike both peaks of katahdin and check off 2 more peaks of the list of 67, it was a great and challenging hike, and it can definitely kick your butt at some points but well worth it at the top!

Your legs will burn. But it is so worth it!!! This is the first "true" hike I did! I was supposed to do it with my bro, but at the last minute, his job called him, so I went alone! What an adventure it was! Who could have known that it was only the beginning of a bigger adventure! Two years later, I was in Nepal facing the Mt Everest!

Great views! Great foliage in the Fall!

Amazing views and worth it. Metal bars as holds in the steeper traverses and a well marked path guiding you to the summit are very helpful.

Amazing walk overlooking the ocean. Stunning views of the ocean, boats and large homes. There are benches along the way and many beautiful photo opportunities. We followed the trail to Perkins Cove for some shopping and lunch before following it back to our car. The only con is that this is a very trafficked trail. We will definitely visit this trail again!

This is great hike for kids & adults. Views are awesome!
Parking can be tricky on busy days.

Very fun trails with a lot to check out. some challenging areas and a lot of nice scenery. looking forward to doing it again when the weather is nice and the birds and animals will be out!

Fun hike - includes a lot of steep climbs using metal bars fixed in the rocks. About 30 minutes each way

Great mountain to hike! All different kinds of terrain. Summit is awesome and plenty of room to stretch out and have a snack!

I highly recommend doing this trail it has amazing views and is by far worth it.

Great walk! Leads right to an amazing beach!

Went on this trail a few years ago.
Had a great time and can't wait to do it again :)

Super fun and scenic!

Great scramble up to the table lands!

The views were spectacular! I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who is afraid of heights. You'll be climbing and walking on trails where you can look over the edge and think: "If I fell right here, I would not survive". With that said, there is no reason you should fall unless you're doing something dumb. ;)

rock climbing

A hike that is more like a climb. Great during the dry seasons, before the snow and ice hit. I don’t believe this trail would be possible to complete in rain, snow, or extreme wind.

Technical skills not required, but willingness to climb some scary-looking spots is key!

haven't been up there in a long while , remember when it was just known to locals and hardly anybody climbed it. remember having to look for old mailbox in bushes to find trail head, now a huge parking lot. old house for lookout Warren has been torn down and burned by maine park service. they also tore down the firetower. And their contractor burned down top half of mountain of mountain. extemly nice views from top just southwest of mt. kahtadin . take the Greenville road off the golden road about 8miles down on right before bridge they'll be a rod with sign for mountain. If coming from Greenville go thru Kakadjo road turns to dirt go about 5 or 6 miles wood bridge with bog on right the road to mountain will be just over it on your left. you'll need a truck or SUV don't try driving your car the roads are ruff.

can't beat the view

great place to bring the kids. Unusual plant life and long bridges that the kids will love. Short, flat hike that we return to several times a year

Two inches of fresh powder. Perfect day.

Amazing views and steep climbs, but pretty short.

Pretty short hike with breathtaking views along the way. There are steep drops along the way with a fair amount of exposure. I did not think it was too scary, but people who are scared of heights might want to take it slow on this hike.

Strenuous, but very fulfilling! I’ve climbed this mountain twice. It’s life-changing. Do it..

This was one of the more memorable hikes of my life. I did it late in the season (knifes edge had just iced over a bit), and was the only one on the mountain. And no bugs! I would highly recommend doing this early winter, if of course the park ranger says it’s not too dangerous. There aren’t many days in life that are memorable, but I’d imagine for most that hiking this mountain is one.

Favorite hike in Acadia!’

Great hike/climb, definitely one of the harder trails in Acadia.

Absolute must hike if you are planning a trip to Acadia. If you can climb a ladder or steep staircase you MUST do the beehive.

If you want to know what you're in for take quick look at my virtual hike on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/edit?o=U&video_id=Lb-KmUeIEJg

A hair raiser but excellent hike. Only do this one in good weather.
