Very nice trail, my almost 3 year old enjoyed it as did my wife.

This is a short access path to a rocky beach, not a hike. The beach area is great, not crowded. Lots of rocks to explore with no climbing required. We were there while the tide was out. Lots of tide pools and cool rocks exposed. Might not be as good during high tide. Tie this into a trip to Bass Harbor light house. you can easily spend an hour or so exploring the rocks in each place to make a nice easy afternoon outing.

My family started in the Ocean trail and stopped by Thunder hole walked another .2 miles to Gotham trail head. We also added the Cadillac Cliffs to the hikes which added a little bit more mileage and a lot more fun. Gotham has great views of Sand Beach. Easy way down back to Loop Road at Sandy Beach entrance. It was an excellent combination.

Very easy and quick hike. Perfect for kiddos and those who aren’t the biggest hikers. We also enjoyed scanning the QR codes along the trail and learning about the trees, plants, etc.

There is plenty of parking if you start on Pleasant Street/ Railroad Avenue in Springvale.
I walk these trails on a regular basis. There’s a pretty nice network throughout Springvale.

The first half of the loop was a great walk through forest and wet-lands, including two points that have great views of the river and pond. Well maintained and marked trails/boardwalks. Really enjoyable. The second half included a severely overgrown boardwalk, a confusing wander through sparse and buggy woods, and some time on a road. There is a canoe launch that had a public canoe which was very cool, we took it for a quick spin and saw some beaver lodges up close. Wear boots as there are muddy/puddley spots along the trails.

Nice walk, well marked for the first half but quite overgrown and hard to follow for the second half. Very buggy, bring bug spray. Several nice lookout spots for the pond, and even a free canoe you can take out, very cool!

Super easy walk. We were here about 2 hours before high tide and the tide pools had lots of fascinating things to see. Enough rocky coastline to walk down and get away from the crowds by the sandy part of the beach. Would love to bring our kids here next time.

Very easy path...nice views at the end! We saw Double Crested Cormorants and a juvenile Bald Eagle in the cove!

Great trail! Muddy for the dogs but still beautiful. Easy, I would say.

Nice walk. Easy for all ages and great for dogs!

Accurately rated as easy, though there are a few steep points where old pups or people with weak knees might struggle. Beautiful lookout points. The whole loop-de-loop that AllTrails lays out here took us just under two hours, including short stops to take in the views.

The trails were very well maintained. My favorites were the ravine and pond trail. The ravine takes you into the woods. There are lots of chipmunk, squirrel, and bird sight and sounds. The Pond trail takes you along the fields pond. There are places to swim as well as boat/kayak. I will be returning in the fall to take the hikes as the leaves change.

Very well maintained trails. Relatively flat terrain. In many sections you can walk two abreast. This area is a network of trails in which the Steele trail is one of many. The only downside is the parking area is small. There are instructions for alternative parking

Buggy way to buddy

Caution: trail floods after a rain. Other than that this was a very nice, fairly easy trail.

Once in the parking lot there are no signs. a lot of the reviews say that it's just an access road to a tower, and all though this is still an awesome view, its also only one peak. In the parking lot walking over to that access road, if you get yourself so that that dort access road going up the mountain is on your left, there is a trail straight ahead of you (maybe slightly to the right). This is a fun, steep trail, short hike with a phenomenal view!

off road driving

Took my jeep out on it , it’s alright. Don’t bring a truck you might get stuck , the trail is nice but a little more intense than the cover photo if u are going to be doing off road driving

as one reviewer said, best views of penobscot bay. we hiked mt battie the day before and its wayyyy better. the north side of the loop shares a trail to mt frolock, so dont let that throw you off. its also less traveled, so a nice walk

Enjoyable hike but not much variety to it or views. Did find a bunch of different kinds of mushroom on the path and saw the occasional chipmunk and toads.

I really wish the trails were marked better. But it was a nice quiet hike with lots of frogs in the puddles.

Lots if overgrown brush into the trail otherwise the trail is nice. I went after 2 days of rain so the bugs were out of control.

We didn't think the views from Mt. Battie summit could be beat until we did this hike. It was fairly short, and we took the out and back which was said to have a more gradual ascent. No scambling required. The view from the top was spectacular. Photos can't do it justice. As we sat on a rock resting and taking it all in an eagle glided by right in front of us.

Beautiful shoreline spots to stop at as you hike along. A better-than-aight Park!

Fantastic! Easy to find with plenty of parking. All of the trails are clearly marked and even though it’s “1.6” miles you can easily make it longer adding more trails. We did 2.6 with the kids. Very kid friendly

Great easy trail with good ocean and cove scenery. Good for our kids, ages 8 and 5. Nice little beach area on cove on East side of trail.
