on Mount Battie Trail

It is short but requires scrambling on all fours up a very steep rocky section. Would not recommend it for a casual hike with young kids. Great views from the top. Did not feel able to attempt going down, felt it was too dangerous, so did a nice hike through the woods near the road on they way back.

Took our grandkids (ages 10, 7, and 4) -- they loved it! Especially picking and eating the wild Maine blueberries along the way.

Nice hike. I took the family. It was a little steep for the youngest (he’s eight), but he did well.

This trail was harder than I had expected. It’s pretty steep with lots of rocks and roots on the trail. On my way down (after having to literally jump off boulders) I saw a family wearing flip flops, sneakers or hiking shoes are definitely required here! Besides it being a challenge, this trail is really fun. I went after a few days of rain so there were a variety of mushrooms around. There were also wild blueberries at the top so I enjoyed some of those. It was rainy that morning so the rocks at the top were wet, it was hard to navigate so we took our time.

Great hike, took 4 kids and they rocked it. Uphill right from the start but the view is one of the best!

Short hike with nice views of Camden harbor.

Plenty of parking. Short trail with a great view. Make sure to find the monument for the child who died in the 1800's. The view is spectacular.

Plenty of parking. Only 2.4 miles, but a very good work out View from summit was blocked by trees, but the view from slightly below summit was spectacular.

Overall it’s a nice hike. The trail is mostly in the woods with a couple of viewpoints. Part of the trail is on the road and when you re-enter the wooded “trail” it’s not marked so be sure to have the map downloaded so you can find your way back to the actual trail.

Mostly in the woods, the view today was blocked by dense fog

Great hike to do with kids!

This hike offers the most stunning views I've seencin Camden so far. It's a but intense, make sure you bring water.
Signs for it are a bit lacking while hiking though.

This trail does have lots of uphill walking. The view from the top is beautiful and worth the work!

easy trail for anybody who has never hiked slight spots that are a little steep but overall rewarding with a beautiful view

Stunning view and in memory of the girl who lost her life there R.I.P

Excellent trail! Be prepared for a vigorous climb. The view is spectacular.

Pretty views from the top. Lots of people! Easy enough for kids to have a good hike.

Awesome hike. Relatively easy, takes about a couple of hours or less. Beautiful views !

Good beginner trail. The view from Ocean Overlook is nice, but from the actual summit there is no view. It took 2.5 hours to the summit and back.

Good hike overall although some areas need to be marked better with the blue dots, especially along the Jack Williams trail.

If you plan on looping from maiden's cliff(scenic trail)to megunticook summit (along ridge trail), ocean lookout, Jack Williams-bring extra water and food as it can take awhile.

Good luck, and happy trails!

Good easy hike, actual summit is disappointing if your expecting a view. The view is only from the lookout, which is very nice! Still early in the season, some mud.

Great day of hiking! Moderate with some less moderate parts.

Fairly easy hike. Great views at the top.

Stunning view at the top! A fun, easy hike that can be completed in a short period or one the whole family can enjoy. Lots of space at the top to just hang out and take in the scenery. Have done this hike a few dozen times now whether it just be at a leisurely pace or for trail running and can say it's great for both!

Amazing views!!!

One of my favorite within 90 minutes of Portland. Get a little of everything. Fairly easy with a few strenuous climbs.

this hike has stunning views and is great for all levels. we went in the fall and boy was it gorgeous! a perfect hike for a picnic up top overlooking the water.

We did this hike along with mount Battie and I would just advise that the "summit" has no views so be prepared, there is a view almost to the top that is breathtaking but once you reach the end, it's just a sign with the elevation on it. Highly recommend mount Battie to do with this hike.
