Very steep!!!! You’re basically scouring the cliff by using thin metal bars to help you up. If you’re bad with heights this is not the trail for you

A beautiful little trail that overlooks the craggy seawall. It’s pretty much the definition of Maine’s coastline.

My pal and I woke up at 4AM and watched the sunrise over the sea. However, in the summer months, be sure to prepare for mosquitoes as they love to hang around the seaweed.

Love it!

Went for the first time this week (January 2).. icy and snowy but still very doable! Highly recommend bringing along microspikes if you expect that kind of weather.

Really great views from the top. Although I agree this deserves a "hard" designation due to the steapness and iron rungs, it is quite a short loop. It took us under 20 minutes to reach the summit from the parking lot so we had to add a couple other peaks to our route to fill our time. A fun short hike.

nice walk wear good shoes

The beginning of this trail is terrifying for someone afraid of heights! I froze on a ledge at one point, which was such a strange thing to happen to me. I wouldn’t do the hike again, but give it 5 stars for the challenge and the amazing view.

We made the mistake of doing this trail in July.... It was obscenely crowded. It really took away from the nice views.

For a city trail. It is ok. Lots of mud on this trail. Very busy walk, with people, dogs and bikes.

A great way to spend a few hours. Super-easy walk. Gorgeous views of the water.

Love being able to walk along the granite rocks all the way to lighthouse. Really cool to be able to get up close to the lighthouse. Great views.

Excellent diversity in biomes.

Really great walk, fantastic in the early morning! enter off the city road not the loop for an easy in and out

great trail, too many people

Marginal Way Walk from Perkins Cove, ME is a sweet little stroll for everyone.

goes along coastal community rds and through the state park and beaches

Easy for all reminds me of Newport cliff walk.

Beautiful - did three loops if it. Well maintained.

This trail is off Hermit Island Campground. It is a hidden gem in the winter. There are several routes to different spots such as Lagoon Beach, Breakwater Point, And Sand Dune Beach. However, I have found that some of the best views are from Osprey Point (Credit to the gentlemen who gave me a map and informed me of it). Campsites are open during the certain parts of the year. Some of these campsites are literally on the ledge overlooking the ocean to the NW and SW. A bit of a caution to the wise: Watch for slick ice spots on certain parts of the trail. You can watch the lobster-men head back to harbor during certain times of the day and it is fun to watch.

This is one of my favorite hikes in Maine. Very few people hit it during the colder months. Today it was me, my buddy and someone else two hours a head of us. The views are stunning and the hike is challenging but doable for all skill levels.

a shorter but beautiful hike! the climb wasn't bad for myself, my husband with a bad knee and ankle, and my two dogs, who absolutely loved Maine after this trip. after descending to the cove at low tide it was amazing to explore the nooks and pools that form. We went a little later in the day and so when we got to the cove is was almost dead silent and you felt a little isolated to just take in the beauty of the area. it was so interesting to see the original and old growth section on Acadia that hadn't been touched by the fire all those years ago... instead of the birch and maples that you see on the Bar Harbor side, which is beautiful in the fall... you get to see the deep evergreens and the canopy that envelopes you. this hike is a must for me when I go!

Beautiful views during this hike, especially if you go during autumn. I would highly recommend. Foggy days you can’t see too much when you get high enough, but a neat experience!

Incredibly beautiful. I got engaged this October on this trail!!! You’re hiking alongside the ocean the entire time and if you take a little detour off of the path you can hop along the rocky coast for an even better adventure.

One of our favorite trails in Acadia. Views, unique terrain, and solitude combine to make this a stunning and enjoyable hike. I highly recommend

Wild blueberrys everywhere

Great hike! Not to difficult either. If you do this trail definitely take the short Cadillac Cliffs loop!

Great views and super easy trail! We did this one last due to low morale from beehive and south ridge trail. But it was definitely worth the hike. Perfect for beginners!

Wonderful views on this hike! I would call it rock climbing or bouldering instead! Such a thrill and adrenaline rush being on the edge of a cliff climbing high up. Some of the rocks and iron rungs were icy, so I would not advise this during the end of fall season. Dangerous but worth it! Would definitely do again in the summer time!

OK place to run if you're looking to be around a lot of other people. Gravel trail with constant view of the cove. Parking can be difficult at peak times. The weekly 5k series is a fun race series there.
