We do this trail every year! Simple, fast, and worth it! Short hike up and down. It is steep in some areas, but totally manageable. Great views of Jordan Pond at the top.

Awesome trail. Will kick your butt but well worth it. Take the detour to eagle crag, awesome lookout. Views along the ridgeline the whole way. The last uphill coming back up to dike mountain was killer

Beautiful hike! We did it with a two year old in our hiking backpack. The final .4 scramble was a challenge but the views were AMAZING! Make sure you have bug spray for the bottom and sun screen for the top. Minimal foot traffic so it was truly enjoyable. The views in the gorge were stunning!

great for kids 6 and above

Started out early 5:30 and did not see a soul until we got down to Jordan pond. Jordan cliffs was closed (peregrine nesting) but was not a problem. This was our first hike ever and we are from Florida. Wife handled it with no problem. Asended to Penobscot then Sargent then back down to Jordan Pond. Did the whole trip in 3 1/2 hours and took it slowly.

Gorgeous! Nothing too challenging (saw everyone from toddlers to elderly), and amazing views. Take the Cadillac Cliffs for a little detour and small challenge. One of Acadia’s best trails.

Amazing hike! The trail is a great trail, well-maintained. I haven’t hiked a trail that had this much traction in a while. Well shaded in the beginning, not so much at the top but there is a cool breeze. Beautiful views. I highly recommend this hike. It is great for both families and pets.

awesome views and well set up to make the technical stuff easy.

Counterclockwise is best

Great trail with beautiful views in several spots. We all enjoyed it, including our 10-year old and 6-year old. The trail is picturesque and not too challenging.

Beautiful trail. We are from NJ so our coast line is mostly sand beaches. We really appreciate the beautiful rocky coastline in Maine. The hike was easy with such great views.

This was a great hike. We started up around 8am. nice incline gets the heart pumping. As we ascended you could see the fog pushing off the water. Really cool. When we got to the top the views were beautiful. We also walked around summit loop trail too. There were a lot of people up there as you can also drive and park. On the way down I thought was a little more difficult because of the decline. Overall it was definitely a moderate trail not too difficult, difficult but great scenery definitely looking forward to doing it again at some point will probably try the south entrance also.

Easy walk across the bar to Bar Island. The hike up and down we’re easy when you get to the top there is a view of Bar Harbor Village. Nice

Dogs and bikes and walkers. Not crowded!

Very fun trail that seemed to be dog friendly as many other folks had theirs with them. Plenty of amazing spots to take pictures on the rocks. Thunder hole is well worth the trip. BE ADVISED: the best time to hear it is 2 hours before high tide!!! Check the weather as the fog can overtake most of the ocean and make pictures difficult

Did this several years ago in the summer season. It was extremely hot and muggy that day but the hike was fun.

Nice path along the shore, with Frenchman Bay on one side and impressive estates and hotels on the other.

Loved this hike. We did this with two kids in backpack carriers. When you come to the plaque in the rock go past to the right. We went up the trail on the left. The hike is steep, but our 5 & 7 year olds climbed and loved it! There were two times we thought we reached the summit, but weren’t there yet. The first had the best view of the ocean. The true top has a marker and was a little busy. Not as great as a view on the way down the kids wanted to go the other path down. This one was the path on the left. The marker mentioned Cadillac mountain. This was much more of a challenge. We spoke with people at the top that said they had come that way and it was completely doable. There were big boulders to climb over and two rungs. It was steep and more challenging, but we all thought this was the beat part of the hike. This has been our favorite hike so far in Acadia.

We did this with a toddler in our backpack and my father and his dog. It has an interesting scramble to start but if you follow the blue markers it was great! Once we were at the top this hike had so many stunning views of the ocean. If I only had a couple days to hike in Acadia this is one I would do!

We thought this was super fun because we got off the trail and hiked most of it on the rocks. There were several spots where you had to go back to the trail to be safe, and hiking on the rocks can be dangerous if you aren’t careful. But the hike was so much more fun from the rocks.

We liked it so much we hiked it twice! This was tons of fun and we highly recommended it. There is a warning sign at the beginning of the trail that says you need sturdy shoes and not to bring your dogs. I highly recommend obeying those rules.

Nice short walk through woods to shore line.

Good views at the summit. Worth the hike. Good for kids. Saw some families with 4-5 year olds climbing with help. Take the Cadillac Cliffs trail at the branch for an additional challenge and time in the shade.

Great challenge for new climbers or out of shape adults. Wonderful views the entire climb. Wouldn’t recommend for children under 10 without experience in climbing.

This is a moderately-trafficked, moderately-difficult hike with beautiful views along the way and, of course, at the peak of the mountain. There is not a lot of shade (we were a sweaty mess!), so do bring plenty of water and snacks. We started this trail around 9:40AM, reaching the peak at around 10:55AM. This was going at a pretty brisk place with several water breaks. Some parts are tougher than others, being rocky and steep. Just take your time. You can do this hike!
