The crown jewel of Kennebunk Land Trust properties, this preserve boasts over 625 acres of land and a 45-acre pond at its center, and is ideal for mixed recreational uses. The forested, scrub pine parcel provides habitat to a variety of wildlife; trails meander through a red pine plantation that was re-vegetated after the fires of 1947. Originally planned as the second phase of Alewive Farms residential development, the property was conserved by the Trust in 1990. Blueberry picking in summer, some wildflowers present in spring.Show more

What used to be a way to access a favorite skiing hill, the Shrine Trail is now open to the public for year-round walking. The trail begins by heading south along an unpaved road that splits off the Shaker Hill Road (directly across from Anthony Road). This remarkable section of trail leads you past sacred spaces dedicated to the Shaker community and the Brothers of Christian Instruction. You will pass multiple cemeteries, the stations of the cross, and eventually a small shrine, the namesake of this trail.Show more

This is an excellent short trail with views of Hay Brook and Middle Branch Mousam River. It is easy to follow and does not have many hills at all. You'll pass near a few backyards at the beginning of the trail, but soon you'll be in a more forested and isolated area.Show more
