Awesome paved trail. Did 20 miles on it. Very nice.

Simple, quick 1 mile hike. Gravel paved trails. Walked it in roughly 20 minutes. If you want a “hike” I’d go somewhere different.

A decent recreation area if I were bringing kids for a picnic and a quick easy hike. But this hike left much to be desired for me.

Nice paved trails and awesome park. Nice steep inclines

Do not attempt without tall, waterproof boots and clothing. Trail is abandoned and now a creek. Bulk of trail already sealed off by NPS.

Family jog around long trail and then a solo run. Stroller friendly. Even brought the old dog. Trails are improved and easy to run on. Well trafficked. Plenty of wildlife to see. Highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful trail. Clean. Family, elderly, kid, stroller, dog, fishing friendly. Plenty of places to fish or picnic without being right next to other people. Benches along trail.

Easy.. beautiful view of the river .. too short

This is a nice easy trail..... very clean !!!

I live in the area. I just wanted to comment that the trail is not best from March thru October, but instead October thru March. The reason for this is that our summers are unbearably harsh, and our winters are mild and beautiful. Back to the appropriate commentary; this is a wonderful trail.

Nice place to take the family for a picnic or hike back to the river. Less challenging option than Comite River park across the highway.

The Trace as the locals know it is a 31 mile stretch of paved path stretching from downtown quaint town of Covington through Abita Springs, Mandeville,Lacombe and ending in Slidell . The scenery is varied from beautiful shady oak trees to sunny marsh areas . The Trace is appreciated by locals and visitors from leisurely walking to serious cyclists . Bike rentals are available in Covington and Mandeville for the day. .

My go to pavement trail run spot. nicely lit up at night, never over crowded unless there is a game happening. And And on top of that, everyone is super kind.

This trail has a very nice view but with the New Orleans heat the smell of sewage on this trail is very hard to look pass. This trail is better suited for the fall season.

Nice walk along the Mississippi. Cool shops and buildings

I used to go running here all the time when i was in high school (~2010). It looks about the same, except the beach was completely underwater...not sure if it’s always like that nowadays. Still has giant banana spiders about. The lakes are nasty, but they always were. The big lake is completely taken over by cabbage; back in the day you could see all the fish swimming by the pier. Really wish more would’ve been done to improve this park. I always was uncomfortable going towards the back of the park when i was running alone, and nowadays I’m much stronger and faster & i have 2 large dogs, and it still made me uncomfortable going in the back to get to the river. The area is notorious for car break-ins, so hide ANYTHING visible, even chargers and cheap sunglasses.

Well maintained trail, part of the longer Tammany Trace Trail, has several bridge areas overlooking the swamp and waterways.

Great biking trail, not a lot of scenery besides the typical swamp land. Well maintained paved trail. Depending on your skill level it can easily be navigated in a day. It's a hot ride but passes by several areas with water, food, shops, etc. Take water and snacks with you just in case. It is very hot during the summer months, we enjoy the ride more during the cooler months.

View of Mississippi River great

Been here several times, both walking and biking. Black top tip to tip with marked crossroads, and there's alot of them on certain sections. No dogs allowed. All flat ground. Several entrances and exits, but very few bathroom facilities on the trail so be prepared. Horses are allowed on parts of the trail but I've never seen any.

Enjoyed a nice run along this path the morning after too much food and drink... tried and succeeded in sweating it out of my system.

This is truly a nice place to walk! If you enjoy fishing, this is the place for you!

Enjoy!

Started from the Visitor Center (currently open Wed - Sun) and took the Palmetto Trail to the Bayou Coquille / Marsh Overlook Trail. The giant blue irises were in bloom! Saw several snakes, many small anoles, a turtle, and an alligator. The alligator was along the Kenta Canal on the Marsh Overlook portion of the trail. The total distance out to the overlook & back was about 4 miles.

Trail starts downtown Shreveport and ends at a loop just passed Shreveport dog park at Stoner Avenue Boat Launch

This is a beautiful boardwalk trail for those who enjoy scenic walks and nature. Great for people of all ages. Trail is next to the museum and there is plenty of paved parking available. The trail is moderately walked and is a little known treasure to the locals. The trail is a couple of miles down the road from the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve.

Really cool swamp trail but a section was closed, preventing walking it as a loop, and another section was also completely flooded and impassable. I talked to a ranger that said it is actually a pond year round so unless you are prepared and geared up to wade 100-400 meters don’t be surprised if you have to turn back instead of completing it as a loop.

I did see a gator, deer, squirrels, and a couple pretty big snakes along the trail. Pretty decent wildlife viewing.
