Love this trail. I take my dogs here on the weekend to avoid large groups of people/other dogs. We’re usually the only ones walking around which is perfect Bc they can roam and sniff freely as we get our daily mile (or two!) in. If it’s a particularly hot day, I’d recommend the Perimeter Trail...the trails in the brush get super humid...especially when we have days where the heat index is 100+

There are no signs or any indications of the trailheads and the trail itself is very poorly maintained. Much of it is overgrown or has trees completely blocking the trail.

Really pretty area right in the middle of town. Shades trails are crushed rock and are not rutted. The only thing I would change is marking a single path that takes you around all the available paths. I was able to get almost 3 miles in with minimal repeat, but I had to guess where to go.

Considering it’s in the heart of Baton Rouge, it’s a great trail. My son, who is 6, was a trooper and walked the entire trail no problem. The boardwalk is a great change of scenery and had some pretty views. We saw some frogs, egrets, and a water moccasin. Pretty good outing for a February.

Decent trail. Trash throughout trail.

It was really fun! It was muddy when we went but still a good trail for the BR area.

Very nice trail - recommend doing it backwards for hiking,

It was actually a great hike. I wouldn’t recommend right after it has rained a lot because the trail was cut off by the river. If you had a good pair rain boots this is get! It was a good easy hike and fun! (:

Makes you feel like you’re out of the city a bit even though you’re right in the middle of it.

Nice and easy to navigate trail features a railroad, sand river beach and giant bamboo! Highly recommended!

It is a gorgeous trail...right next to the interstate. We had to speak over the sound of the cars the entire time. If that doesn't bother you, go, it's beautiful. But if you are trying to get away from it all, this isn't really the place.

Good trail for BR. nothing too difficult but make sure it’s been dry before you set out. There are some sections that stay muddy it seems almost year round.

Trail is confusing to follow, while there was a map at the beginning, the names were inconsistent with signage on the trail. Highway noise is a given. But some nice butterflies & a surprising chapel with benches & pulpit. We lost the trail & ended up on the road but got back to our cars ok. The road gave up a surprise of two Longhorns (Hook 'Em) that gave my 5 lb dog a surprise.

I hiked the river walk trail; it's only .6 miles. There were a handful of other people out (went on a Saturday afternoon.) Lots of views of the river, and much better scenery than I expected. I'll probably go back again and again. The trail isn't super well marked, but it's pretty obvious what's the trail and what isn't. I love that this whole trail is dirt, and that it's pretty much open forest in some areas - lots to see. it was slightly muddy here and there. Be aware of fire ants - only saw them in 2 places: in front of a bench at the river, and on a log. Blackberries are fruiting now, and we had to step over small single vines in a couple spots - they grab ;) There isn't much elevation.

Nice river which is easily accessible from some parts of the train near the beginning. Very muddy on the second half of the trail.

really enjoyed!

I gave this three stars due to the amount of trash on the trail and the poor marking. We ended up hiking the bike trail because the signs were not marked well. Our 5 and 6 year old boys hiked 5 miles without any problems so it would probably be a god trail for children or starters!

Just got back from there, I was a bit disappointed to see that they are clearing out trees (seemingly) in a few areas to make the trail wider, the elevation changes are nill.
The weather here has been bad so there were some debris on the trails and a fair amount of mud and water. It took us 70 minutes to hike about 2 miles mostly because we ventured around the area.
Still a nice place to just get out.

entrance is flooded. did not attempt to go forward
