Very short trail with very nice scenery. This doesn’t appear to be a trail that was built or managed by a State, local, or conservation entity. I explored the trail because I’m a history nerd and the trail leads to rock shelters where Jenny Wiley was held captive by Native Americans in 1790 (you can look up the story on Wikipedia). As most reviewers have posted, the trail head is difficult to find. Here’s how to find it. First you need to park at the Little Muddy Creek Church of God. Then hike along Falls Road (the AllTrails map has this mislabeled as Little Muddy Creek Road, which veers to the right). As you walk down the road (see the AllTrails map), you will see a house on a hill to the right. Continue past the house and you’ll come to the asphalt driveway. Just before the driveway there is a wooden post on the shoulder with the numbers 208. Directly across the road from the post you’ll find the trail (a 6 inch wide foot path). Not a good trail for children. Precipitous cliffs near the trail. The trail is only a few hundred yards long where it terminates at a large rock shelter where Jenny Wiley lived before her escape

This trail is excellent for beginners or kids! I hiked along with my 2 year old and 6 year old. The trail is very well maintained with beautiful views of Paintsville Lake.

Trail is in ok shape. Very short. There was a lot of garbage on the trip I took. Lots of graffiti painted on the cliffs. Waterfalls are very nice.

I probably couldn't even begin to count the times I've walked this trail growing up. It's a beautiful and well kept trail. Views of the lake and plenty of places to sit and just enjoy your surroundings. Almost always see some sort of wild life. Dogs are allowed on this trail. I always try to walk it when I go back home to visit my parents.

We parked at the church and walked up falls rd. Not sure of the exact trail entrance. We entered on possibly a deer trail. First we walked above the creek there were great rock formations. Then we back tracked and found a place to get down to the water. There are many places that have falls. Some small some big. It was pretty. Wear shoes that can get wet it was an adventure not a “trail” for us. Our kids are teenagers and they had a good time exploring.

Beautiful trail! Hiked it with a friend, my youngest daughter and our dog. It's very nice, well maintained and easy access. Perfect for families with kids of all ages, even strollers. The leaves are changing and starting to fall so it was very pretty. Views of the lake are very nice too. We will do this one again for sure!

One of my new favorite trails. Probably best to have an SUV, road leading to has lots of mud holes. Beautiful wildflowers, lots to look at, and leads to the lake at the end. Looks like a fun place to bring the dogs and maybe swim. On the way back we walked into the creek and saw down a small waterfall. Very pretty.

I couldn’t find the trail part leading to the waterfalls and over hangings. I brought my dogs and they loved the open trail. Can someone recommend how to get to the water fall?

Great trail and easy to walk if you stay on path. On the way back we walked to creek and looped to the top. Was a little tougher but well worth the views of waterfalls and overhangs.

Easy trail, actually a road used to access fields around the lake , well maintained. No markers and no gps or phone signal. Very secluded and a great place to swim or fish. Many places to get in the water if you search off the beaten path a little

Great trail, lotsa walker/runners , gravel the whole way. The trail actually goes around the home place if the gates are locked , not as shown on map but easy to navigate and well marked

Great paddle through some beautiful country. There are several trees across. But, they were easy to get around.

Awesome little hike. Waterfall is beautiful and we even caught a fish. Do not recommend going after it has rained, and wear good hiking shoes

We took our dogs plenty of room to run tons of open fields and different access points to the lake which is beautiful only thing we didn't like was the amount of mud at the time but it's very private and that made it so nice I wouldn't consider it moderate it was really easy but would love so have seen more access trails to the huge rocks. Overall the parts near the lake are great and if you have dogs it's a must also it seems in the summer time they do horseback riding so very glad we went in the winter so we could let the dogs free. I would do again during the fall in the middle of the week just to let the dogs go wild or if I had a kayak

To many trees across the creek, had to get out of canoe to many times because of low water or the trees.

Plenty of climbing and maneuvering around rocks, cliffs and waterfalls. At the end you are rewarded to see Jenny Wiley Falls and swim hole.
