Good trail. My mileage was closer to 10.9.

rating it a 3 because I thought I would see the view in the picture. I had only forest views. although it is June, so perhaps the views are only visible in winter/fall (there were only a few trees in the way at the top). without a view at the top, it was really just a path to nothing and then the same path back out. I was still able to catch the sunset at the beach at the campground, so all is good. Seems like a nice place to camp so far.

Great view easy walk just wish there was a platform at the top to make it safer and more enjoyable

Great hike with awesome views of the lake!

To all commentaries if you don’t like the trails due to horse use then do not use trails where horses are allowed. Unfortunately there are a few elements that leave messes but they are not always horse people. My wife and I usually pack out garbage that others have left... including garbage from hikers.

Recent maintenance work on the trail by the USFS has made a big improvement.

The fire tower is still there however it is in need of repair. Bath County Tourism is attempting to raise fund to refurbish the tower.

Not terrible. I hiked it in the rain and the horses have beat it down pretty well. There are some decent views of the lake but it is mostly just a stroll through the woods. It’s long but there are no big hills. Expect mediocre views of the lake and no technical climbing or heart pumping hills.

Very scenic and peaceful.

Decent trail it is open to horses so there's a lot of bogs from the horses. 10 mile loop with the new part including part of the shendowee trace. What bothered me more was at the horse tie up there were a lot of garbage left behind and several beer cans along the trail. Beautiful along the lake area.

horrible. Just a reallly bad walk along beach. the beach is covered in dead trees. You have to constantly step over them. also see trash that people left behind. horrible trail

The area is very pretty, with views of the lake. But, it was absolutely destroyed from horses riding the trail. The horse tracks made it impossible to actually walk on the trail, which resulted in trying to walk on the sides of the trail and/or through the woods. Would have been an easy hike otherwise. Also, came out covered in seed ticks. Highest amount of ticks of all of the many trails I've hiked this year.

The information presented here completely misses the mark for someone who wants to reach Carrington Rock, and needs to be corrected. At the closest point reached by the track shown, Carrington Rock is still 1.7 air miles to the SW on the border between Bath and Menifee Counties. Also, be aware that he track presented for this hike starts at an unmarked point from the Clear Creek Campground. It involves a half mile bushwhack start across a creek and up a confusing, poison-ivy-infested, difficult-to-navigate slope to intersect with the Sheltowee Trace, which is what the track is on for the remander of the hike. Best by far to start at the point where the Sheltowee crosses the creek at the Clear Creek Picnic Area (back down the road, with a bridge across the creek). It's a nice hike if you start at the picnic area, but it doesn't begin to come close to Carrington Rock. I've uploaded a track that starts at the Carrington Greens Golf Course and reaches the summit along a nice multi-use trail (TH is at 38.026520, -83.624976).

Did about 3 miles of it. Very overgrown and dirty. Poorly maintained. Wouldn't recommend

Nice trail, and views of the Cave Run Lake.

Great trail, though horses have clearly been on it when they're restricted from it (until mid-May) and so they've made the soft, muddy sections really a mess. Mountain bikers, too, complain, but it's clearly marked no biking so they've no one but themselves to blame. It's clearly NOT suitable for that. But a great hike with some elevation and excellent trail marking. Could use some trail maintenance to remove fallen trees across the trail

The first half of this trail is best with the lake views.

Agree with some other comments related to the condition of the trail due to horse traffic, but overall, it is not too bad.

We covered the entire loop in about 4 hours with some snack stops.

trail it self has some pretty views of lake, but like others said, its used as a horse trail, lots of muddy spots to bush wack around and poop to avoid stepping in.

i began trail at the clear creek lake parking area. From there followed trail past iron furance, up the switch back trail to the top. from there its mostly ridgetops. Once you reach the area where all the bolders and cliffs are, trail starts going down the hill and about midway down hill you will look to your right, and the arch is midway on hill.

We only hiked a small portion of this trail, so I can't comment on the entire thing. We did have a good time just making a short out and back along a portion of the trail between Glady Hollow Road and FS Rd 908. The portion we hiked was all ridge top with scenic vistas pretty much along the whole section. Trail was in good condition and fairly well marked.

One word describes it all-DON'T. This is the worst trail I've ever been on. According to AllTrails it is a multi use trail. It became very evident that the trail is actually a dedicated horse trail. I wouldn't recommend it for hikers either.

Nice loop trail in the Daniel Boone National Forest. Part of the trail (Caney Run) follows Cave Run Lake and eventually connects to the Sheltowee Trace trail. Used by hikers, mountain bikers, and horses. The Sheltowee Trace section shows considerable damage from horse and bike use. (not criticizing, just stating facts)

Trail is nice in the fall with the changing colors.

Beautiful trail. We took the wrong loop and ended up going 12.5 miles. Oops. Lots of mud and horse muck to dodge.

Nice short hike. There was an old fire tower at the top but alas a pair of jerks set it ablaze several years back. Unfortunately the top can be a little trashy from the lazy people to sorry to pack out their trash. It is located in the primitive weapons area of the forest so be careful during deer hunting season.
