Several good ascents. Lots of ridge hiking with good views in early spring or late fall. Take plenty of water and arrange transport if only want to do one way.

Moderate trail with a couple hills worth a couple hours of hiking.

Some moderate to steep climbs. A few very muddy spots. Overall was very peaceful, with some great views of Tom Wallace Lake. Enjoyed this trail and will Hike/Run on it again.

Great trail, moderate skill level, bring plenty of water the inclines on a hot day will leave you parched.

challenging, beautiful, peaceful

Nice, quality hike. Not very challenging, elevation gains aren’t too severe.

Really enjoyable hike. It was a bit muddy in spots from all of the rain but still safe

Awesome hike! Very muddy after a big rain. Took the shortcut which had one big climb.

Went after rain, very muddy. Gorgeous views especially with all the leaves off the trees.

Good, strenuous trail right near Louisville. Would recommend for a good day trip without having to leave the Louisville area!

A great loop, pretty easy except for one valley that’s a little steep.

great loop trail, two decent size hills, love walking it with my dog. Keep your eyes open for trail markers and its great seeing the valley floor.

Was a beautiful spot to take the dogs. We all had a great time. We ended up doing about 12 miles because a few of the turns were not clearly marked. Had to keep bringing app up to make sure we were on the right path. Overall it was great and with all the hills, we all are going to be sleeping well tonight!

Really enjoyed this trail. Nice views. Well kept. Clean and very quiet.

Great trail, only a couple areas in turns weren’t marked and had to check the gps, otherwise excellent, I’ll definitely be coming back in the summertime to see how different it looks.

Relatively flat except for the two huge climbs. They’ll let you know how out of shape you are. Beautiful views though.

Great workout with several incline/declines. We hiked in the snow...glad we brought our poles!

This is a great loop of you just need to get outside for a bit! Had to shed a few layers—there’s some good, steep hills involved in this one. This trail connects to others so you can make it longer if you want. When I went it was cold and peaceful. Nobody else on the trail!

Kinda of tough but doable

Beautiful winter hike close to Louisville.

Excellent trail! Well-maintained with lots of opportunity to challenge yourself physically (...were a few moderately steep hills!). My girlfriend and I were to do the Guided Winter Hike scheduled for today...missed the “meet-up” spot....Red Trail is what we did by ourselves. Admittedly there were a couple of spots where it would’ve been nice to have markers indicating that it’s the Red Trail, but there were dots spray-painted on trees! All-in-all, a FANTASTIC trail!!! What a lovely treasure right in the heart of South Louisville!!! ❤️

I’d say this trail is good for beginners. Me and a few buddies recently got into hiking and this is the first one we did. The two hills will test you a bit but otherwise it’s pretty easy going and great for someone who is just getting started!

Good trail, we did get a little confused in 2 spots on what way they sign was pointing 2. But other than that it was a good hike.

Lots of leaves on the trail. Great views

Well-marked wooded trail through gentle hills with a creek crossing. We took the shortcut due to time constraints. A very worthwhile and enjoyable couple-hour hike.

Nice views while hiking in late fall.

Nice trail. Great for training. Ups and downs.

This trail (red trail) was my first experience hiking a few years ago. A friend and I had the idea of a short after dinner hike. We started out completely unprepared to walk anywhere. 6 pm start with no flashlights, water, food, cell phone, nothing. That 4 hour hike to finally find our car in the dark was a very unpleasant experience. That sparked my interest in being properly prepared for my next trip. I have now learned that lesson and now only hike when within my abilities and preparedness. Since then I have hiked this trail twice with great times to report.
