Easy trail, good view.

Easy trail that leads to an incredible views

One of the more interesting hikes I’ve done in Res River Gorge. I wouldn’t think that most people would rate it as easy, especially the first part including the Indian stairs but certainly doable. Also parts are not marked so well so the app is very handy.

Easy short walk and great views. You have to drive 5 miles on a bumpy gravel road to get to the trailhead. See princess arch while you’re here too.

Cute little trail, everything the description said was on point! Great views!

A super quick hike to the viewpoint, terrific view of the area. Go at night to get a wondrous view of the clean night sky, bring a flashlight and pay attention on the trail though.

View from the lookout is top notch for sure!

Not really a trail, but the views are awesome and there are a few lookouts on the side of the trail.

Great trail amazing views a good balance of everything one looks for when hiking

Great views 360 one of my favorite trails to hike

This ranked moderate but should be marked HARD. This is an unmarked trail. There are a lot of side trails to different things and camping sites. Very easy to get lost once you’re up there. Climbing the actual Indian staircase is practically bouldering. It wasn’t hard. But it wasn’t easy. Don’t take a dog. I took mine and it was a struggle. Once you get to the top follow the trail down into the cave and around to be other side. You follow that along the ridge until the trail seems like it dead ends and the only way down is to shimmy down a washed out split in the rock covered in tree roots. Be careful. I could see where people could get hurt with this trail. Or lost.

Didn’t think that the vie would be worth it, but I was wrong. Almost 360 view of the surrounding forest and hill tops.

Easy and great way to see the Gorge if you don't have a lot of time.

Amazing beautiful and simply complicated hike. I prefer to take the counter clockwise route to go down the staircase more than going up.

great view of the park and you can see the red river in the distance and how it winds through the park!

The path is paved.

This is the trail we take our aged parents and friends with little kids on. It's great for those who want to see the Gorge, but can't do much hiking. Just a short, mostly paved, 1/2 mile, out and back to an observation area. The view is great though and everyone should see it at least once!

Short walk with one of the best views in the park, I love seeing it in the winter when everything is covered in snow.

The description is a little off- there are lots of great rock formations and you CAN see a little waterfall going over a big rock shelter. We hiked this trail as a loop and hiked back to the Sheltowee Trace trailhead on route 715 for about 1.5 miles. This trail offers the best of the gorge. It has jaw-dropping overlooks, cool rock features, giant rock shelters, interesting arches, and great camping spots. We took a side trail to climb Cloud Splitter and climbed through the gap and into a little cave you could see out of. Once you reach the top of the ridge, you see Indian Arch. Near here, there is a short detour to see another arch called Adena Arch. We continued on the unofficial trail along the top of the ridge and camped with a stellar view of the staircase itself. We met back with the official trail, hiked into the valley under the Indian Staircase ridge, and looked up to see a huge rock shelter. To complete the loop we veered off to the Bison Way trail and back to the road. This was a great weekend backpacking trip.

After doing a bit more challenging hike with our 2 preschoolers and 1 toddler (worn) in the morning this was a nice second hike of the day. It was very easy to stay on the path. It's wide and often paved. We started a little concerned bc of the elevation and advertised cliffs/drops, but they were not an issue because the path was so clear and wide. The view at the end is breathtaking and just the motivation/reward our small hikers needed... well that and promised fruit snacks upon completion.

More of a walk to an observation area than a hike. .5 mile round trip. Great view with a paved trail, which worked out well for us as we had our son in a stroller. Couple this with Princess Arch which is in the same parking lot.
