Do the Fossil Trail instead. We found the 4.5 mile Fossil Loop to be well marked, well maintained, shaded, hilly and worthwhile. We added more miles by hiking down to the Butler-Turpin homestead, hiking up to stone overlook, and hiking a piece of the Woodland Trail near the lodge (great lunch buffet). We’ll be back.

Was nice for a place you might bring lunch to just to eat but as far as hiking it didn’t have a whole lot to offer.

Over grown and not well maintained, however, it is not a crowded trail; you rarely see any hikers

3 star at best. Did the Fossil Trail and it has potential to be good. Needs to be maintained better. Fallen trees and sometimes the trail disappears in the meadows. Needs to be marked much better. Ended up on the Woodland Trail back to the Lodge then another 1/2 mile walk uphill on the main road to my car. Still couldn't figure out where the Fossil Trail ends up!

I don't know what the park is doing, but they have run bulldozers up and down the trails and through the woods in random paths. It has left this trail and sections of the woods as a muddy treeless construction zone. The back half of the trail that still remains in the woods is okay, but anything near the lodge is unhikable. Really disappointed with the park. Would recommend you go elsewhere.
