Length: 3.6 mi • Est. 1 h 34 m
NOTE: parking is limited. Get there early and be prepared to cross the creek multiple times. Park at the lot before concrete bridge by the bathroom and then you have to walk right to where copperas creek meets the road. Do not confuse copperas creek with the Red River and do not cross the bridge. The trail is on the same side as the lot and bathroom, if you are walking from the bridge and bathroom the trail is on your right. There are two entrances that meet up abruptly, and then later the trails split but both paths lead to the same place, just stay along the creek and it goes right to it.Show more

This hike involves walking along Red River Road to get back to the parking lot. The trail and rock scrambling up may be difficult, but it is definitely achievable and well worth reaching the top. There are tons of camping spots on top of Indian staircase and several through the entire trail. Show more
