Walked it no problem a few hours after several hours of heavy rain. Just a bit slick in a few places. Some really scenic spots, cotton tail rabbits, several massive (4’+) diameter trees.

A good hike that is surprisingly rural for how close you are to the suburbs. The hike down the dam is somewhat steep, but then the main loop is lots of flat fields.

On hot days, the sun could get rough. There are scattered groves of trees you go through (one has the crumbling remains of a stone building), but they are probably less than 30% of the trail.

Tons of birds, and if you want to explore close to Mill Creek on the West side you'll probably spot turtles and frogs. The train goes right by the creek every 20 minutes or so.

This was a great place to visit. The map they gave me confused the heck out of me towards the end. Wish they had better landmarks on the trail map to identify where you really were. I got lost and was either on the white or blue trails. I don’t know. Lol I had to put the map down and try to figure out where I was. It didn’t help much with the one they gave me. But it was ok with that part. Really enjoyed my day! Would definitely recommend it. I will come back someday!!

Good for hiking, not the best for mountain biking due to the quantity of loose rocks

Paved trail along a creek, nice walk. Could be better if a section was added to link it to the the Sand Creek Station golf course trail.

Easily One of the best trails in the area. Enough rocks and rough to terrain to stay entertained but not so much that family can’t come along. Good views. Fun afternoon!

Beautiful trail, but really poorly maintained! First, there are no obvious signs to tell where the trail begins. Second, the trail itself was stunningly overgrown. As in, the trail was fairly obvious (once we found it), but definitely in need of a good mowing / clearing out, especially as this was billed as a family-friendly trail. Third, TICKS!!! We pulled a combined total of 35 off of us three hikers this morning, and turned around about 1/3 way through, which was an utter disappointment.

This is quite unfortunate, as the location itself is beautiful. With a little maintenance (are you reading this Kansas State Parks?), the Blue Loop could be an awesome hike, perfect for local families and visitors alike. As it is, this trail does little to encourage children to become avid hikers and friends of the great outdoors.

Two stars because the trail goes through a lovely mixed wooded area, has excellent views of the Big Blue River / northern part of Tuttle Creek Lake, and has potential.

We walked the roads around the lake (the trails were pretty muddy). The hills were a good challenge and the scenery was peaceful!

Horse thief trail is part of a much larger trail that runs throughout the park. It varies in terrain. The trail has a ton of ticks. Bring spray. Be prepared to cross through water. Plenty of wildlife.
This would be the best hike in Kansas if it wasn’t for the ticks.

You get both wooded areas and clear prairie trails. The paths are a mixture of sandy and grass. Clear paths to walk on with markers along the way. You can grab a map of the trails in the mailbox as you get there. Bring a tick removal kit and bug spray as there are lots of ticks in the area. There is also a rest area with a toilet, you may want to bring sanitizer wipes.

Great trail, haven’t explored it all just yet!

the trail has gotten. little more challenging since I rode it a couple years ago. but, it was a great ride and I had lots of fun.

very enjoyable.

This trail has a great way of keeping you on your toes. With loops, roots, large and small rocks, cacti, trees, Moss, mud, sticks, and wildflowers all along the almost 6 mile loop, there is no time to look ahead. Keep your eyes down and watch were you step. It’s great fun!!

We did this trail on a Sunday afternoon. It was our intention to do the whole 3.6 miles but time constraints only allowed us to do the Blue trail. It was a very nice trail. There were a few muddy spots due to the horses but they were easy to walk around. Just a couple of things. Since I had not been here before I did not appreciate how much horse traffic there is. It is substantial. The other thing there is a $5.00 user fee for just driving on the roads. That is no big deal except for the fact I never carry cash. One of the guys with us bought the pass. Next time I will bring the cash. If you live in the area this trail is worth a visit.

This was my first "moderate" trail and it was so much fun! Gorgeous views and trail was well-marked.

I love taking my dogs here to run and play! There are always a lot of four wheelers to watch out for. But it’s a great place to get away and walk or fish!

I love taking my dogs here to run!

Nice little walk around the fort. Several of the buildings are open with displays inside.

fun variety!

Fun trails! Easy to forget you're just a stone throw from everyone on the other side of the trees!
North trail much more open to sky. Pick if you'd rather stroll through the meadow.
South Trails, more shaded than not. Pick if you'd rather hike in the trees!

Beautiful trail, we went in the am and flowers were blooming and smelled amazing. Enjoyed all the bridges over the beautiful creek around 127th & Pflumm. Very enjoyable.

Beautiful trail with stunning views! Saw buffalo at a distance and a few turkey. The kids loved even at the challenging parts, which aren’t that bad. We will be returning soon!

Great trail. It definitely didn't seem like Kansas. My daughter and I spent two nights on the trail. Hiking poles and good boots are needed.

Nice trail with great prairie views. Easy hiking great for half day trip.

Great views with plenty of open country. Nice for a day trip. Nothing spectacular but nice for Kansas.

The castle was neat! The walking trails were alright. I wish the 2 large dogs there were on leashes, I had to wait until they were gone.

My friend was on the Elk city trails and had put his Glock 30S 45Cal. down on a rock last night,4-30-18. If anyone finds it please call me at 316-806-1545.
Thank you

Very gorgeous trail with nice scenery and enough little challenges to keep the path interesting
