Explore the most popular Walking trails in Kansas with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

Frequent people with dogs, bikes and strolling. Paved the entire way. Not quite what I love (prefer woods), but good for what it is.

The trail is really easy to follow. We saw some neat rock formations about half way through the trail.

Good medium terrain good views of the lake.

Amazing location with many side trails to explore All over the hillside. Not much parking at the trailhead so we parked at the castle and hiked down the hill and back up! A great place to explore!

pleasant walking or biking trail. Other trail users were friendly and courteous. The bridges allow you to make a loop and shorten/lenghten your trip to fit your time. The east side of the river was a little quieter since your removed from the traffic.

Not bad if you’re a beginner level hiker or just want to get out among the trees.

Great trail! Well maintained with Amazing views! Will definitely be back!

LLB #SiezeTheDaylight hike in Shawnee Mission Park.

Pretty, paved trail. Great for walks, running, biking. It’s next to a creek, not a river.

Nice easy walk around a small city lake. Partially paved, well maintained and mowed trails otherwise.

A rather difficult cross country course that makes for a good trail prep outing. I very much enjoy this trail.

Beautiful, windy trail with a great overlook to stop and eat lunch or a snack. Make sure to give bison a wide berth and if the young cows stare at you wave your arms at them.

One of my favorites. Not too difficult but still enough to get a good workout. Great for families.

Nice trail. Part of it is rough and part of it is now paved. A great off leash place to take the dogs.

So much fun to walk around and learn about KS history

It was a beautiful run in the snow. Heads up the streams are not all frozen so there is some open water to navigate.

Did this trail with a fresh layer of snow, was an amazing day hike and quite the butt kicker. Had an amazing day, only issue we had was when the trail crosses Orleans road, the blue markers continue south without letting you know that it also goes north and we went just over a mile before I pulled out alltrails and figured we were off a little.

A solid 4+ mile hike with thick woods, meadows, lake views, and a very old farming implement.

I always have fun going here and walking with my pup. The castle is always a fun thing to go up on and the view when the sun comes up or goes down is gorgeous. When it comes to actual hiking I mean it’s not to difficult. It’s more of a stroll but my fiancé and pup like it. We come here a lot on weekends it’s a nice change of pace. And yes definitely bring hand sanitizer and your own tp if you plan on using the outhouse up on the hill. It’s castle old school lol.

Bring your hiking poles and prepare to sled down some slopes on your behind...so much fun and had the trail all to myself

nice easy trail with good views.

Good trail. Never knew it existed. Nice and wide. I don’t know if the map on this site is entirely accurate. It didn’t appear to loop around. And there are no maps on the trail itself.

Trail had lots of debris and is very poorly marked. It’s a nice trail for being in the middle of the city, but definitely won’t be back. Also, there was construction blocking the back quarter of the trail.
