Trail was great to Berryton. After that it’s overgrown and large gravel. Not pea gravel. Made it to Richland, then had my husband pick me up. Started again in Overbrook, but after 1 mile it was large gravel again. That was where I ended my ride for the day.

Some great technical areas for all difficulty levels. Awesome place close to town to get out and enjoy some nature!

Really nice for an out and back. A surprise view every now and then.

Nice wooded trails that are hard packed and clear with slight variations in elevation. Walked by train tracks never saw a lake and followed red trail on app. Did not come out where we started. Somewhat lost at end vs where we parked. Poorly marked trails which led us to the street north of Sixth street.

This is my favorite trail in Topeka. There are 4 different routes you can choose. For being close to the city you really do feel you are on a hike in nature. Plus when you get to the top of Burnetts Mound it is the highest point in Topeka, so there is an beautiful view of the city. Also if you hike later in the day you get beautiful sunsets. This is such a beautiful hike for an area that you would think wouldn't have anything nice to look at.

For Topeka and NE KS---a very decent trail. The north "half" is paved; the south "half" is packed gravel and dirt. I imagine it would be very nice to bike it in the autumn during color change.

Great easy walk in the shade and to get away from civilisation. Nice historic landsite menninger’s. Saw a deer and squirrels.

There is a portion of this trail that is 1.8 miles. Park by the Governor's Mansion, and always select the right trail when at a fork (starting with a traipse thru the meadow) until you've walked parallel to the train tracks as far as the trail leads. When the tracks are behind you, and you come to a left fork that leads uphill, choose it (you'll have nearly completed your hike). Up the hill (near your first wooded right fork) select the right fork on the yellow path. Final selection is the first left fork which will take you back to the parking lot.

Fun trails! Easy to forget you're just a stone throw from everyone on the other side of the trees!
North trail much more open to sky. Pick if you'd rather stroll through the meadow.
South Trails, more shaded than not. Pick if you'd rather hike in the trees!

Still a few muddy spots, but trails are mostly in good shape.

Several short, hard hills if you hike it that way. Takes a while to learn as the trails are not particularly well marked.

Nice little trail. I was actually surprised by how interesting it was having lived in Topeka most of my life and had never hiked Burnetts Mound. Someone has set up a nice little stone table at the summit of Burnett's Mound on the first leg of the hike going up. It would be a good spot for a quick lunch as it has a pretty good view of Topeka. Due to its close proximity to my home I will most likely hike this trail again.

Good trails!

Walked this today and really enjoyed my hike. Definitely more bikers but it's easy to hear them coming and move out of the way. The trails are marked however there are a few splits that are not marked which made it a little confusing. You can easily run these trails which I plan on for my next visit. I walked the red trail and jumped to the yellow trail. It's very shady and took me about an hour.

Local road detours and removals make trailhead difficult to find. Spray paint markers are wide spread and trail surface is not yet worthy of easy rating.

I was impressed to find these trails in Topeka, particularly the wooded portion which treks down by the river for a bit. Be aware you are immediately beside an active train track on the deeper trail and that comes with loud horns. There is enough elevation change here to keep things interesting without being too challenging. My only real complaint is the way the trails are labeled, which is more of a color-coding by type than actual demarcation of different trails. So be sure to snap a picture of the map. Definitely worth exploring.

The main summit trail was only partially shaded and the wooded portion left much to be desired. Nevertheless, it was worth doing at least once for the view. The other smaller loops were fairly nice and well marked. I saw several bunnies and birds as well.

nice small couple of loops of 1-2 miles, well shaded and well maintained trails..

love these trails we hike these all the time with our 8 yrs old. so close to city but when you're up there it doesn't feel like, as they are quite and well shaded. some sections might get a little muddy after rain and some intersactions could be confusing.. i took a picture of the map in my phone that can come in handy..

This trail gives you the feel of being out in the woods yet you are still in the city. It's moderately difficult. There are many hills to hike up.

Nice varied trails with good views. Great place to hike up and watch sunset. Enjoy the irises someone took the time to plant at the top!

Nice hike. I'd call it easy as opposed to moderate.

2nd trip with a great friend who knew the Trail much better than I! The variety of mushrooms, dewy cobwebs, train tracks and the Kansas River were all candy to my eyes!! We estimated 4 miles.

The trails could have been marked better.

My first visit to the trail! Really enjoyed the adventure. The squirrels were scurrying in prep for winter, leaves were falling, birds chirping and sightings of many different types of mushrooms. It was a very hot day but the canopy of the trees kept me shaded. Very well maintained! I enjoyed the different levels. Can't wait to bring my "hellga" bike the next time. 3.3 miles on my first trip.

Excellent trails. We take our kids there frequently.

Nice MTB ride. First time on these trails in probably a year. I really enjoy these trails being so close to town.
