this a great short trail. I run it quite a bit and you can add some legs to get a good 3 miles. lots of shade so great when its hot. Almost always get to see some deer as well.

many trails on the property. we had a great time on a quick 8 miles. will def be back!

We found out the hard way that this is NOT a biking trail like this app says. The park has multiple conflicting signs. Some say "bikes on designated trails", some say bikes allowed while the signs by the nature center say no bikes allowed anywhere. We rode for 1.5 miles and never say a no biking sign.

short and fun for kids

Very good trail. Only a few people on it. There were lots of people in the park, but not on this trail. Very Rocky and a good amount of roots going across the trail. Not too many bugs either, just bring bug spray. Majority of the trail is shaded. There are some water crossings, but when I walked they were all dry due to the little rain we have been getting. Trekking poles or a walking stick may be a good idea. My only gripe is there is not very many trail markers on the trail and some areas have forks so bring a map.

Rattlesnakes in this area!! They live under the rocks up at the lookout, but they are not aggressive just be cautious!!

A lot of fun I always have a great time
highly recommend

Great trail, went out for a short day hike today and it didn't disappoint. Beautiful bluffs over looking the lake, lot's of ups and downs. I look forward to completing the whole trail.

I did not do this trail at my last visit but regarding the park itself - I recommend visiting the website and looking at the different maps to the park to see how they all work together. There are so many trails in this park that connect, are skill alternatives to each other, and run along side each other; you should consider the trails as a whole system rather than individual trails to be done one at a time.

Creekside Trail does bring you around by the creek but you don't have the best access to the water. If you are taking dogs it may take a little agility to get them down to the water to drink and play. Did the entire South Loop this weekend. Very fun trail, offers different scenery than you usually get in Kansas. There are offshoots to the trail that let you go down to the water. You can also cross 1650th to get to the cave trails via this trail, but it isn't marked well. This is a great trail for Kansas. Mostly shaded during spring/summer but with some sunny areas as well. Lots of up and down and more rock formations than I'm used to seeing in Kansas. It is well maintained so not too much brush, able to do it in shorts. Worth the hour drive from Wichita area.

Well maintained trail, very easy to hike but narrow paths.

Really nice hike for Kansas. Some pretty views of the lake. The small "canyon" portion of the hike is very pretty as well.

Very well marked and maintained trail. Will definitely hike again. A few areas had very fresh tree falls on the trail but nothing overly large or blocking to much of the trail. Was some trash at a campsite but I packed it out.

Trail was great to Berryton. After that it’s overgrown and large gravel. Not pea gravel. Made it to Richland, then had my husband pick me up. Started again in Overbrook, but after 1 mile it was large gravel again. That was where I ended my ride for the day.

Great place for a family bike ride, well maintained and little people.

Awesome Trails

Very Rocky. Lots of small hills. Fun Trail!

This is my favorite thing to do when I am in the area visiting. I could spend hours strolling along, camera in hand, enjoying God's creation in all its glory (and I have)...

Nice hike close to town. Would rate as easy instead of moderate

Beautiful country but not a very long trail. Nice moderate walk.

Very pretty walk. Rocky path much of the trail, so wear good shoes. The trail stops a couple of times so you have to clamber up some rocks to continue - not difficult, but something to consider. Would not recommend for most children under 5/6. Signage is pretty much zero. This might be a good Eagle Scout project! Also, I didn't download the trail map before I left & had no connectivity on this trail (AT&T), so ended up looping it a couple of times. I don't have a very good sense of direction and kept missing where I needed to exit. Some nice young hikers came along and got me going in the right direction. Thanks!

Some great technical areas for all difficulty levels. Awesome place close to town to get out and enjoy some nature!

Fun and pretty trail

I got to the trail head around 6:30 pm. Knowing sunset was at 8:30, I was bit nervous about finishing in time. The sign at the trailhead suggested that the hike would take about 3 hours. It took me a third of the time. I walked at a pretty brisk pace and didn’t stop to swim. I ended up finishing up in about an hour. The terrain is easy with a few rolling hills. The surface of the majority of the trail is mowed grass. Easy to walk on, and I even walked barefoot for some of it. The rock formations are really quite lovely. There were a couple boats parked there with people swimming and jumping from the rocks. I saw a couple lizard and a large variety of plants. As many have mentioned, it is Kansas Prairie and there is no shade, I did the hike late enough in the day that this was not an issue.

Took the family out today for a ride. Perfect for all skill levels with enough challenge to make it a lot of fun for riding bikes regardless of experience. And close to home.

Pretty, but we got hundreds of seed ticks today after we used bug repellent! Not worth it!

great easy trail to take the kiddos on. a little steep at the start for their bikes but after that it is perfect!
