fun trail. some parts were a little steep but manageable nothing to bad . was a very well maintained path .

Great first hike at Elk City. My boys and I ages 12, 9 and 7 took 33 minutes to complete.

This trail is awesome, and not just for the area. It has enough challenging elements to keep it from being boring. The trail crosses a main road, if you want to skip the really challenging parts then just turn around there. If you are looking for an adventure cross the road and party on. I have athletic dogs built for trails and they had a blast. Wouldn't recommend older dogs or dogs that can't jump anymore to do the highest point of the trail across the road. We had to go off leash to naviagte some parts safely so a definite no if your dog has poor recall or has not been trained in recall.

Enjoyed this trail with my 4 year old daughter. Not hard but beautiful and fun to hike.

This was my first moderate trail and I loved it. Never got boring and beautiful scenery. I will definatley be back!

Easily One of the best trails in the area. Enough rocks and rough to terrain to stay entertained but not so much that family can’t come along. Good views. Fun afternoon!

This was my first "moderate" trail and it was so much fun! Gorgeous views and trail was well-marked.

Simple hike when camping. Good for kids.

We never actually found the trail head. It is very poorly marked. My best guess is that you start at the mountain bike trail head. Within a minute or two you will see an orange flag and a path into the woods with more orange flags. I bet that's it. That's what we will try next time. We wound up walking the mountain bike trail. It was fun, and it has several route options. Our dog had a blast and did not want to go home. Hiking. It's all good.

Excellent adventure! We loved the quiet, well marked trails!! Absolutely beautiful hiking path!

This is the first time we've done this trail. We took both kids and they loved it. We did 2.1 miles all together. Beautiful day!

Hiked this the last day of 2016. Two friends and myself that haven't done much hiking in a few years had a blast. For Kansas it's hard to beat, very well marked trail with blue paint. I believe there is enough here for any level of hiker. Highly recommended.

Nice hike with beautiful bluffs. Trail head near camping area makes it a great trail for a warm up hike.

It was our very first hike and it was absolutely awesome. It was the perfect trail to start on. The views were beautiful and even though it rained we were able to see wildlife. The best part was walking along the 20 foot drop off that overlooks the lake.

Elk City State Park is one of my favorite places to go just to get away. This is one of my favorite trails because of it's location. You begin with an amazing view of the lake, and everything below the lookout, and you work your way down to the bottom (and, if you're motivated, back up another direction - off the beaten path). Check out this post with a much more detailed review and a lot of pictures: http://www.veiledpath.com/?p=297
Don't forget to pack some water (or maybe something even better); there are plenty of picnic areas around these trails.
