Explore the most popular dog friendly trails in Kansas with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

This is an easy trail that you can make as short as half a mile and as long as two miles, depending on which path you decide to take.

Well maintained and marked, but a few trees are down due to the recent insane wind. Lots of leaves right now, so I would recommend poles or a walking stick because they hide a lot of obstacles. All in all, this is a fun trail.

Fairly challenging with LOTS of hills. Good workout on a pretty, wooded trail.

Very well marked easy trail. lol bed the lake views

We love this trail! You wouldn't expect this scenery in KS, but it is well worth the drive.

We enjoyed this scenic trail! We were treated to two bald eagle sightings and the walk-in campsites were perfectly placed for the best views.

We just came back from a two mile walk around this very nice 9 mile loop! This is easily the biggest body of water in the area, and the trails are so easy. Everything is clearly marked, and we even saw a runner with his dog at the start of the Boy Scout trail :-)

This is a very trafficked area, so don't expect a lot of privacy. We went on a Sunday at noon hoping to beat crowds and only saw a few friendly people. The further you go away from the mass of trails (and just follow the lake loop) the less people you see--but this is February. I couldn't imagine a quiet space in June or July.

This is still a great place to enjoy the water and beautiful trees!

Parked at the Slough creek boat ramp. Ran through mile 27 and 28. The trail is actually 29 miles total.

well marked. lots of pleasant miles available.

This trail is definitely one of my local favorites. Tucked away (basically the locals best kept secret) so it doesn't get super busy, even in the summer months. A great 4-5 mile loop that has some technical parts (especially after a rain!) so it makes for a good heart pumping trek.

I wouldn't necessarily call this a hike but it's a must see for anyone in the area. Certainly a nice view of Kansas's under rated plains. It takes about 15 mins to make it to the top on foot, maybe 3 or 4 by car.

We got our rental car good and dirty getting to this one.

great trail with hills

Very busy with lots of off leash pooches to greet you.

beautiful in the fall. well marked and easy to navigate.

A great 4 mile loop that had quite a bit of frontage along Clinton Lake. There were 15 marked and established campsites along the trail that were slightly groomed and complete with fire pits and grates. The trail is very well maintained and blazed. Being November most of the foliage had dropped and taller grasses prevalent in the spring and summer months had subsided. I hiked and camped with my 7 year old son who did well on this trail. Elevation gain was mild for the most part. It's a great place for a quick overnighter or weekend getaway that is near Kansas City. There is also a car camping site located at the trailhead that seams to be popular with local college students. All in all a great hike that I will return to.

Mountain Bike Trails are being built. Need to check them out! Signs show the dirt trails for running/hiking and others for biking.

Fun run with the dog, would be awesome for mountain bikes.

Nice wooded trail. Hiking with the water somewhat close for a significant part of the loop, but most times would take some foraging to get down to it. Great condition on this beautiful fall day. No problem with ticks, but lots of spider webs. 2 hour round trip at a modest pace

We actually did the Orange, Gold, Red and Violet trails on this one hike. Very rocky throughout. Wear hiking boots for sure. And bring water!! Be careful of bikers in the narrow parts of the trail.

These trails are for mountain biking. If you look at the map at the trail head, it identifies them as biking trails. We hiked them because of the reviews here and found out quickly that they are too narrow for a biker to pass a hiker without said hiker having to step completely off the trail and into thick underbrush. The park is lovely, though, and there are much better places for people not on bicycles to have fun (including actual hiking and walking trails south of the lake.)

Fun, not very challenging, we had a beautiful day, great weather.

Challenging mtn bike trail for this middle aged newbie...and the paved walking path is close by...so lots of options in this entire park.
