This is the best trail in the Manhattan area. I've been coming here regularly on the weekends and I usually bring the dog along. Like most wooded areas in Kansas, ticks can be a problem. The western leg goes near the gun range, so it can be noisy during when the weather is good. The vulture nesting area is full of vultures around twilight, but smelly as noted by the other reviews.

What a challenge!
Started at the trailhead and took lefts at all forms until E where I took the cutoff to the right. Stay left at L and you'll end with 10 miles under your boots! Lovely Hike.

This trail is more like 4 miles. great trail one big leaning tree but probably stable. I walked this one but you can ride it and it would be a lot of fun. trail is in really good condition. follow the purple/white diamonds.

We put on bug spray before and came out absolutely covered in ticks

Good trail for power walking.

Good for mountain biking. Hiking was nice, but no one has been on the trail for ages, so I got covered in spider webs!! It was nice being alone. No views of the lake tho

I have known about this Trail since I was a kid and I've hiked several portions of it for most of my life. it has always been torn up from the horse traffic. but it is a large loop and has mostly treed areas.

I have ridden this entire Trail on my bicycle. is well maintained and most of the ride is very scenic. the best part is south of Shawnee Mission Parkway on top of the large Hill. it has a great Overlook area.

we road our bikes and this trail was great! we started in council grove and went to bushong. thirty miles round trip and beautiful scenery. we will be back!

Nice change of scenery from NE Kansas. Prairie hiking is nice every now and then. Beautiful!

awesome trail! beautiful views. can't wait to come back

Cement walk that is nice and level. Very flat walked about half way, to where the bend is, from the fishing area. Not too scenic. Trees obstruct view of the water. Bathrooms by the fishing area were disgusting. We were mostly in the shade in the afternoon. Trees on the water side. Wide open field on the other side of the trail.

Lovely trail, we went clockwise and stopped to camp at #12 in hammocks. There was a great fire pit and bench at this camp site and it's right by the water.

Great trail - a little tough for smaller kids. 10 year old did great 7 year old with some solid complaints and 3 year old was losing his mind! But we loved it!

Great path, it was exactly what I was looking for. It is a fully paved path great for many activities. I rode the full length and back on my mountain bike with city slicks.
Most people on the path understand all the basic courtesies required to make this enjoyable for everyone sharing for which I am very thankful. Though I was riding alone I did not feel alone; lots of waves and friendly smiles.

beautiful place. nice trails. usually well maintained. always surprisingly trash free. many nice vistas. while overall it's an easy walk there are a few paces where you really need to pay attention.

Just another badly marked and cryptic trail that will easily get you lost. Even the trail head maps were off the mark. Got lost after waiting for the local "Trail Nerds" group run that never showed (not even sure they exist anymore) and found myself super lost in the dark. Not to mention LOTS of rocks, somewhat dangerous for runners and the occasional weed smokers on the trail make it for a annoying and disappointing experience.

I really like the trail for mountain biking but I feel it's not safe with all the homeless there. constantly got that feeling of getting mugged around the corner.

Nice, paved trail for the road bike. Pretty, scenic suburban trail meanders along Mill Creek. Fairly busy on the weekend. Watch out on the blind curves as the trail is somewhat narrow.

Went in early September after a week of rain so the water level was higher than usual. It was cloudy out so not too hot. Beautiful trail. Rocktown was amazing and we were the only ones there. Spotted some deer, lizards, and turtles. Love this trail! We will be returning.

Nice clean easy trail w/ mild ups&downs- lots of benches and viewpoints.

Great! With 4 kids we found this scenic and no trouble. Trail head isn’t well marked but once you find it, there’s no trouble following it around the lake.

One of my favorite local trails.

Nice trails but park rangers were not helpful knowing about where the trails took off from.
Despite bug spray with deet I was covered in bites the next day, suspect oakmites. Would not go back til hard frost.

easy everyday trail

Clean trails, some parts are a bit precarious- watch ya step. Lake views. Lots of webs. Great incline for the butt!
