great trail for horse back riding not difficult at all.

This a pretty great trail when it’s dry. Looks like there would be issues with mud and water crossings if there has been recent rain, but it was beautiful while we there in early October. Lake views for about 25% of the loop (we started at the trailhead). It clocked in at 11.1 miles for us. Only ran into one group on horses, and there were 3 significant trees over the trail. Would definitely do it again!

Nice trail not to challenging in any location solid footing but can see where it could get pretty muddy for an extended period post rain. I like it

Easy trail, nice walk. I imagine it’s extra pretty in the fall. I kept walking down Triangle Rd once I got to the end of the trail. That’s a nice walk as well.

Easy flat dirt trail that is nice and clear Although you can hear traffic the entire trail

Trails are poor due to horses. Did not finish

A nice hike for local people. Drove from out of town and was a bit disappointed. If you park off of US150 there is a paved former road that you walk up to get to the actual trail which is quite lovely

great horse trail. bad foot trail.

Wonderful elevation changes. Fair amount of fallen branches in the winter.

Beautiful hike this time of year with leaves starting to change color and falling on the pathway. Hike was very peaceful, not crowded. Good mix of easy terrain and hills for refreshing exercise. I enjoyed the view of the lake through the trees!

It was wet and muddy, yet nice. challenging hike.

There was Horse poop, deep mud and to many spider webs ! An easy hike on gravel that I am not fond of especially when going down hill. I did enjoy the view of the lake.

super easy and short trail. less than an hour round trip. well maintained. went with my 2 year old and he walked most of the way. no spectacular scenery but perfect for a quick trip out of french lick.

Not what we expected. Very secluded at the end of a dead end road. The trail was very over grown in areas, very little scenery and some portions were in bad shape related to horses. The biggest issue we had is the area is badly invested with TICKS!. This is not a trail we will do againn. There are too many other beautiful trails. No area to sit either before or aftert the trail.

Nice trail. Easy but with a bit of steeper hill at each end of trail. Lots of various wild flowers/plants starting to come up. 4/17/18

Quite a bit of chewed up spots from horse traffic. And there were a few spots where I wasn’t sure if I was still on trail. But, all in all, I had a good time. I’ll be back.

Would avoid. The hoof-prints make for a very muddy ordeal and the overgrowth are a breeding ground for chiggers, (pants are a must, my dog and I were infected). There are no designated backpacking sites along. Also the trail was covered in spider webs.

A lot of fun. Definitely challenging if you are new to hiking or (and) out of shape. I liked how clear the trail was. The lake was very pretty, looking forward to hiking this route again in the spring and fall for more foliage.

Trail is clear and wide. Took advantage of a warm January day after melting snow and rain. Some spots were a little chewed up from horse traffic, but overall a good trail. Few water crossings, but not too deep and decent hills and views. Will definitely do it again.

A hilly walk in the woods. The trail is in pretty rough shape this time of year with frozen hoofprints from horses. No bridges, but fairly easy to do the 2 water crossings.

Great trail and lots of history here.

Easy but beautiful- accessible for families. We went "off path" and the creek kept us entertained for an afternoon.

Trail was mostly gravel, I like the more backcountry trails. Once you hit the lake trail and going counter clockwise, I had to traverse the creek, which while shallow, was far. Bummer. The other creek crossings were dry or dry enough to easily pass. At the dam, the lake view is beautiful, but there's only 1 real campsite - which you can reach via car (38.482765,-86.568347 camping spot, 38.482519,-86.569353 parking lot). There was someone posted up there by early afternoon who drove to the site. I was hammock camping so that was fine for me, but if you weren't, there wasn't much flat area to spread out other than the 1 spot. It's marked as moderately traveled, but on a mid August Saturday and Sunday with a high of 80 low of 60, I only saw 1 other person on the trail, and he was on a horse. I would do this one again, but definitely recommend a hammock.

Well marked and maintained. Lotsa spider webs on trail when we went, but that's just nature at work. We did just the loop starting from the boat ramp. Beautiful day!

Tue Aug 08 2017

Treeline obscures view of the lake for 95% of the trail. Lots of small gravel in the trail but rain can cause some areas to flood. More than enough hills to get your heart racing, but nothing that will wipe you out. Might be a bit much for beginners. Very limited backcountry camping options, best bet is to bring a hammock.

Very short trail. The scenery is not extraordinary. There are some very old trees with extremely large trunks here. Just to add some history, an archaeological dig was conducted here close to 10+ years ago. I don't remember what kinds of artifacts were found though.

This is by no means primarily a bike trail, in fact I would rate this has a horse only trail 100%... I did get a great workout, the hills are plenty, but there is no fun, or excitement to be had!!! I did not enjoy this trail on a bike, but I won't rate it badly, I can see on a horse this would be a great ride... however on a bike avoid this trail, if you're in the area I suggest Buffalo Trace trail at French Lick

Took the trail from hwy 150 to hwy 37s with a 9 year old and husband packing the 4 month old!
