The trail itself is nice., Good inclines, white diamond blazes on the trees. The trail head sign was slightly covered today. My friend and I hiked it counter clockwise. To hike it clockwise walk down the gravel road a bit and pick up the trail with the sign that is marked “High King Hill”.

If hiking it counter clockwise you’ll come to a shared trail/road that has blazes all along the way and it eventually comes to a T. Go left and you’ll see trail markers on the left. It says it’s the Tecumseh trail but it carried the white diamond blazes and brought us to the bottom of High king hill. A few downed trees at one point which required climbing but nothing hard.

The road in is gravel and had signs that cautioned about flooding. So keep in mind how much rain we’ve had when you’re heading to the trail.

Challenging enough to be interesting without being too long or exhausting on a hot day in July. Saw lots of turtles and one adult northern water snake

The trail has been expanded to a 4.5 mile loop. It was a fun afternoon hike and the trail was well maintained. There is an option to take a gravel road in order to hike half of the trail. While the trail wasn't particularly scenic, it was a nice hike. I'll definitely be back again since it's close to Columbus and there's no fee to enter.

The trail was a lot of the same view throughout. Lots of trees and wooden steps. Glad I wore long pants due to the path being narrow and overgrown with weeds. Trees down and in the path requiring you to climb over. For a lot of the hike you can actually see and hear traffic due to the trail being so close to the road. Not my favorite hike, probably wouldn’t pursue it again.

Beautiful and challenging hike for a beginner but absolutely rewarding and worth it upon completion!

Great trail, clearly marked, the steps made for a good workout! Will be back again!

Easy hike, particularly nice on a fall day. Can get busy.

A pleasant, secluded, springtime hike on a moderately rugged trail up and down hills and along ridges. Trail varies among narrow but well-maintained paths, seldom used horse trails with the expected hoof wear on the path to abandoned logging and maintenance roads. Occasional blown down branches and trees, but easy to get around until cleared. Good groupings of early spring ground flowers, plenty of squirrels and some birds.

Nice little trail around the lake. Well traveled so markers aren’t really needed. Muddy this time of year since we’ve had a lot of rain.

Well maintained trail. If you love to hike close to the creek this is a great trail for that once you make the decent to the bottom. Trail markers are well placed and in good shape.

Trail head is at the West watch tower. Plenty of parking for this time of year. I imagine it probably gets full quickly during warmer weather. Picnic benches at the trail head. Grass space available for a picnic.

Lovely walk in the woods. Up a hill, along a ridge and fire road, down into a valley with streams, back up to the ridge, then down to the parking lot.

Beautiful hike. Great look out about half way. Has a lot of steps built to make your climb easy. Even for beginners this would be great

Well maintained but there is one sign that is marked incorrectly and I hiked 4 extra miles because of it.

This is one of my favorite condensed trails. I hike it counter-clockwise.

Basically, there is a challenging hill near the start, and a challenging hill at the end. The rest is just fun.

There is a back road with large white rock chunks. This white rock was laid down in about 2014. I can't wait for it to sink into the ground. Also, I have seen rattlers on that white rock stretch, so watch your steps.

The white rock section only lasts for about a mile, and then the trails veers down into the hollow on the left.

I think the is slightly longer than the posted length, a bit closer to 5.

One other thing to listen for in the warmer month is sudden thunder storms. There really is not much shelter on the trail, so check the radar often, too.

What a beautiful day.

Not too bad in the snow. However, it would’ve been hard to follow the trail were it not for someone who had walked it a few days before. I would be careful if you’re planning on hiking right after a snowfall.

Love Hiking at this Preserve. It is so pretty. The South Loop Trail was finished in 2017 and has decent elevation change for the area. The North Loop Trail has about half the elevation change.

My wife and I are fairly experienced hikers and we both agreed this trail should be rated hard for the ascents alone. It's a real workout, but a lot of fun! Incredible views! Nice bench at the loop! Will definitely return!

Great trail for moderate difficulty short hike. Nice scenery. Quickly became one of my favorites!

Moderate hike with forest views. Blazes are faded but reliable, fairly well marked for the attentive hiker. We only saw onle other group of hikers as we were finishing ( on a Wednesday afternoon.)

It's a nice 4+ mile loop - not very difficult. The second half is very pretty, you feel like you're in the heart of the forest. However, we were fighting off mosquitoes the entire time so be sure to bring your bug spray!

Really fun trail! My wife and I have hiked it twice now and love the challenge, though I find it easier than it's described here.

Pretty hike but very crowded

About the most variable terrain you can find for Indiana. Some good lookouts. The lake trail was nice too but very crowded.

Complete solitude. Only sounds-the birds and the bees. Deer country, none spotted.

Enjoyed our hike, with a nice breeze on a hot, humid day.

Really nice trail. Feels very remote. A second trail is being built to extend this one.

We had a good hike this afternoon but for the life of me when we hit that gravel road I could not find where the trail continues so we doubled back. Novice when it comes to non-state park caliber marked trails I guess. If anyone can clarify how to navigate the fire Road/logging road that everyone's talking about in the comments that would be awesome.
