Hiking

AllTrails made it very easy to navigate this trail without a map. There are a handful of forks, of which some aren't well marked, but nevertheless it was a great hike! Just bring water and a downloaded map

More narrow in places than expected. Well maintained and with a few blowdowns. The staircase is down but detour is clear.

Fantastic trail. Although will reiterate what others said about ticks. Might be worth thinking of wearing pants. Otherwise, fantastic

Had some confusion heading south to north around Bear Lake. Creeks and streams are starting to dry up. Overall great hike and I hope to do the whole thing soon.

If you get on it at Hesitation point just make sure that you don’t mistake the bike trail that is right next to it. If you do, you’ll find a more moderate trail that is a lot longer.(besides needing to stay away from the bikes) live and learn.

easy, short hike. I actually really like this trail but gave it a 3 due to the noise. it's pretty close to the road most of the time except when you go into a ravine area. there are lots of birds and lots of bugs(got bit by several mosquitoes)

Nice trail, although as others have noted, it's easy to get off trail (you'd think this wasn't so -- it's a loop -- all you have to do is take it clockwise and keep turning right and keep the lake in sight! But you'd be wrong!!). Based on a couple of 15-18% grades I would also call this "moderate" not "easy" so families of young children beware. Our favorite part was the pine forest on southeast side of lake. We also saw lots of lovely native hydrangea, jewelweed, prairie rose, and evidence of beaver activity. Despite other recent reports, there was little mud on our dry day, but now that it's rained over the weekend don't bring your expensive shoes! Very buggy, even after dousing in repellent. Do stop for a breather at the small cemetery at SE end. Very poignant. Also we recommend going back on the road SW side as it was less buggy.

Nice long trail but prepare to be covered in ticks this time of year because it is deep woods and a narrow trail they’re pretty much everywhere.

If you have little kids and pets this is your Trail. Just long enough for children to enjoy & parents not lose your mind.

Quick easy trail to keep your hiking feet in shape. BCSP trail 8 is a park so trail is well maintained, easy to follow. One third of trail parallels the road which is nice for less avid hikers. If you want to add another mile or so you can include the loop around Lake Ogle.

HikingMuddy

May 2020, trail is really muddy from wet Spring. Still enjoy the trail and great humor my son and I enjoyed trying to avoid huge mud pits on west side of lake. Trail is easy to follow as you can see lake in most places. Certainly will go back during dry season.

Hiked on a Wednesday with my dog and it was a prefect little 3 miler. The lake is beautiful and my dog enjoyed the swim to cool off. Many people around the lake as to be expected but not many on trails.

Running

The trailhead isn't well marked. There are three different trails to choose from. The one to the left of the tower leads 0.5 miles to no where. The actual trailhead is directly behind the tower. If you want more of a challenge, walk or run counter clockwise. There is a small section of steep grade that you will have to traverse quite a few stairs. The path is speckled with many roots which easily catch your feet so beware to runners. The trail is heavily shaded which provided a cool reprieve from the heat of the day.

Enjoyed half the trail as the other half was disappointingly too close to the road for my liking. I prefer a more “remote” feeling. Horse barn smells of manure, no escaping that.

Great trail Recommendation: Start from westpoint lookout —> Hesitation Point—> Ogle Lake—> end at westpoint lookout

My kids and I very much enjoyed this trail. We started at Trail 4 and then walked trail 7. It was shaded for most of the hike. There were many spots around the lake where you could picnic or fish. There wasn't too much traffic on a Wednesday.

Mountain biking

Great trails . If you’ve ridden mtn bike with any frequency and have some endurance there is not a trail out there that you can’t ride. The climb up to hesitation is the most difficult but not long. Aynes great. The knob trail is fun and you don’t have to jump if you don’t want to. Control your speed and wLk some drops / rock sections if not comfortable riding. Haven’t ridden off rode in years but came back quickly. Have fun 23 miles 3:34 ride time
