Great little getaway for an hour during lunch if you work nearby.

In from out of town, closest nature walk from hotel. Nice wooded area, great signage explaining the area and how a creek changes the landscape over time. Some big, thick trees and an old artesian well (still pumping water) on the property lets your mind wander to days long long ago.

Nice views of the reservoir, especially from the Weir Trail across the street from the small IU parking lot. The spur that goes down to the water is particularly pretty.

Scenic views and nice inclines.

Completed this hike at the end of March, very little greenery which is to be expected. I’d recommend going when it’s mid spring or early summer. If you are trying to complete the Dark Side Trail, be aware the trail markings are extremely confusing, with excessive fork in the roads and random turn offs. Definitely don’t think this trail is 7 miles long, more like 4.5.

I loved how beautiful this trail was but it’s extremely confusing if you’re only looking to do one trail and you’re going off the All Trails map. There are more than enough forks in the road and if you take the wrong one you’ll end up back at the same place which isn’t completely bad. It’s just a waste of time.

If you love just walk alone with kids its amazing. We loved it signs made us laugh. TY whoever keeps it so nice. No trash at all we even were prepared pick up some while there didnt find anything.

Nice trail with some elevation changes (a rarity in Central Indiana!).

Life this place! A little trouble with druggies in the parking lot and people breaking into cars but other than that this place rocks! Love the trails and I’m thankful for the guys that maintain them!!

Beautiful natural forest with creek. A gem
Near town.

Love eagle creek! Several great trails.

Great trails!

Pack 336 had a blast and learned so much. Great hike.

The access road from East 96th Street was closed so we parked along Crystal River Drive which parallels some of the trail. There were a couple openings in the brush and we took one to hop on the trail. No leaves on the trees or bushes made this much easier as we could see the trail through the blank trees/brush. We walked north to 96th Street and then back South to the 465 underpass. We had the trail to ourselves on a mostly sunny day. We picnicked at the 96th Street trailhead and observed (and then ignored) the trail closed sign. The trail was somewhat muddy despite not having had much recent rain or snow. Just winter precipitation I guess. Without leaves on the trees there were great views of White River.

Just discovered this trail on All Trails app and I live close enough to walk there! What a great trail for hiking or trail running. Lots of variation, ups and downs to keep your blood pumping, over many fallen trees on the trail, under them as well. Today the trail was muddy in several spots, difficult at times to know if you were on the actual trail, no markings.....but all that said, I can’t wait to get back over there and do it again!

I live near here so an annual pass is a must! This is a beautiful park 15 minutes from Downtown Indy, though you’d never know you were so close because of the setting! I run this trail often, it’s about 6.5 miles if you complete the loop. You have some slight elevation, run beside a lake, lots of variation. I’d rate it as a very enjoyable somewhat moderate trail. If you’re experienced more of an easy rating. It’s definitely worth your time to visit Eagle Creek Park and the Red Trail is my favorite of all!

Great relaxing trail.

I hiked the Red and Orange trails. Both were nice, but I definitely enjoyed the Red more. The park overall is beautiful and has a good variety of trails! It was pretty busy when I went, but since I’m a solo female hiker I didn’t mind. I will definitely go back.

It was pretty muddy because it had rained a lot during the week, but this is still a great park close to Indianapolis.

Trail follows the western shoreline if Eagle Creek Reservoir. Trail maps are not available from Indy Parks. Outstanding views of the reservoir. Some low lying areas are extremely wet. Times of heavy rains will probable make portions of the trail underwater. Lots of blowdown on the trail.

Paved trail. Use the trail for a dog walking spot. Greenwood City Parks is developing pathways along Pleasant Creek. Great place for a walk while letting the kids play.

This is a narrow singletrack built and maintained by Hoosier Mountain Bike association. It is of 3 serious mountain bike courses in Indianapolis (besides Ft Harrison and Southwestway). Keep this in mind as there are MANY places exclusive to foot traffic in Indianapolis. It's not that it's popular with Mountain Bikers it's one of the few places they are allowed.

A bigger version of the South Overlook Trail. More of trail is through Eagle Creek Park forest.. It partially follows what is called the fitness trail located in the northeast portion of the trail. Exercise equipment available for those that chose to exert themselves even more.

Portions of green trail share the same footprint as orange trail on the south and blue trail on the north. The north-south leg of the trail are within a few yards of I-465 and I-65. Very noisy and not to picturesque along that portion. Appears to be a good cross country skiing trail due to it being a flat trail. Someone has used it for that as there were ski tracks in the snow. Highlight of the hike, spotted a big buck crossing the trail. However, I was to slow to get a picture.

Nice break in the cold to get out. Pleasant walk on well kept trails. The nature center was an informative bonus.

A paved trail in University Park. A small Greenwood city park in the Homecoming subdivision. Nice trail if you only have a few minutes available. 3 different trails that interconnect. A portion of one is currently closed. Appears to need work on wooden walkway.

very easy and open. Convenient location.

very easy trail. Easily accessible. Children friendly.

Very Difficult to navigate. If it wasn't the winter time and the trail wasn't packed down, I'd have no clue where I'm going. The trails also merge in clusters, and there's no way to identify which trail goes where.

I'd give this trail 2 out of 5 starts, but evidently some people navigate much better than I can... Pictures online look great and I must've missed it! Ultimately, the "views" aren't worth the research this trail takes.
