views are beautiful from the top of the lake

Muddy trail with many large puddles after it rains, plenty of water wildlife, flat trail

very nice surprise

Nice trail. Well marked. Very scenic with the water and birds.

Well-maintained and well-trafficked trail that’s good for hiking or trail running. Definitely would consider this to be more easy than moderate

Definitely for biking, not for hiking. (sorry)

Loved this trail!

Awesome trail through the middle of two lakes. Lots of bird life, and the E & SE portion of the loop is nicely elevated for larger views.

Park at the Orninthology Center. A few parts of the lake portion are submerged, do be ready to walk on boards & rocks. Mostly the trail is comfortably wide and solid for walking.

If you love just walk alone with kids its amazing. We loved it signs made us laugh. TY whoever keeps it so nice. No trash at all we even were prepared pick up some while there didnt find anything.

Love eagle creek! Several great trails.

The access road from East 96th Street was closed so we parked along Crystal River Drive which parallels some of the trail. There were a couple openings in the brush and we took one to hop on the trail. No leaves on the trees or bushes made this much easier as we could see the trail through the blank trees/brush. We walked north to 96th Street and then back South to the 465 underpass. We had the trail to ourselves on a mostly sunny day. We picnicked at the 96th Street trailhead and observed (and then ignored) the trail closed sign. The trail was somewhat muddy despite not having had much recent rain or snow. Just winter precipitation I guess. Without leaves on the trees there were great views of White River.

Just discovered this trail on All Trails app and I live close enough to walk there! What a great trail for hiking or trail running. Lots of variation, ups and downs to keep your blood pumping, over many fallen trees on the trail, under them as well. Today the trail was muddy in several spots, difficult at times to know if you were on the actual trail, no markings.....but all that said, I can’t wait to get back over there and do it again!

I live near here so an annual pass is a must! This is a beautiful park 15 minutes from Downtown Indy, though you’d never know you were so close because of the setting! I run this trail often, it’s about 6.5 miles if you complete the loop. You have some slight elevation, run beside a lake, lots of variation. I’d rate it as a very enjoyable somewhat moderate trail. If you’re experienced more of an easy rating. It’s definitely worth your time to visit Eagle Creek Park and the Red Trail is my favorite of all!

Trail follows the western shoreline if Eagle Creek Reservoir. Trail maps are not available from Indy Parks. Outstanding views of the reservoir. Some low lying areas are extremely wet. Times of heavy rains will probable make portions of the trail underwater. Lots of blowdown on the trail.

This is a narrow singletrack built and maintained by Hoosier Mountain Bike association. It is of 3 serious mountain bike courses in Indianapolis (besides Ft Harrison and Southwestway). Keep this in mind as there are MANY places exclusive to foot traffic in Indianapolis. It's not that it's popular with Mountain Bikers it's one of the few places they are allowed.

A bigger version of the South Overlook Trail. More of trail is through Eagle Creek Park forest.. It partially follows what is called the fitness trail located in the northeast portion of the trail. Exercise equipment available for those that chose to exert themselves even more.

Portions of green trail share the same footprint as orange trail on the south and blue trail on the north. The north-south leg of the trail are within a few yards of I-465 and I-65. Very noisy and not to picturesque along that portion. Appears to be a good cross country skiing trail due to it being a flat trail. Someone has used it for that as there were ski tracks in the snow. Highlight of the hike, spotted a big buck crossing the trail. However, I was to slow to get a picture.

Great hiking close to Indy. Nothing rugged, flat trail, nice scenery.

A superb loop combining various trails within the heart of Eagle Creek City Park. This loop takes you through some of the best parts and combines the trails in an efficient and even fun manner.

A superb loop trail that combines all of the trails into one nice perimeter loop. It turned out to be a perfect 10km. I'd recommend parking on the south side as it makes for an easy starting point. Although, any parking lot will do. The part along the highway isn't super ideal, but it's a good trail, with the walk around the lake being a highlight. This will get you off of the main walker's routes, so enjoy!

It was sprinkling on and off when we went hiking, so there weren't any bikers on the tail (we did see two runners). This was a nice trail, I loved the signs of encouragement along the trail. Apart from the trailheads marked "Entrance" and "Exit Only" there seemed to be two other trailheads at the parking lot. Would love to explore those, as well.

Nice setting for a metropolitan area. Heavy bike use. Only negative is constant traffic noise from I-465.

Nice wooded path that hugs the reservoir. Some wild flowers in bloom along water. Trail needs some small clean up in certain areas off path, but close to trail . I bet early morning would give walkers more bird life to view. Great city hike!!

This is such a great trail. You can connect into other trails or just follow this one. This is actually about 6.5 miles.

A quiet trail that makes you forget you're right in the city. I like to run this trail. Closer to 6 miles. Almost 7 of you add on the loop by the 71st Street entrance.

Love to run and bike this trail. It's a nice way to get away from the urban landscape for a while.
