Peaceful and relaxing

Good views of downtown Indy. There are bicycle, kayak, and paddle boat rentals near the fountain as an alternative to walking

Well-maintained and well-trafficked trail that’s good for hiking or trail running. Definitely would consider this to be more easy than moderate

This is the long trail in Fort Harrison. Beautiful trail with loads of trees and wildlife. Little slick in spots after the rain but not too bad

Park was very nice and plan to return for other trails. The orange trail was marked pretty clear, fairly easy, and not busy at all. We did not pass a single person during the entire hike.

this is a nice place with lots of other things to do along the way bike rental at the white river end shaded most of the way not crowed but was on a Friday day , beautiful buildings and bridges.

Nice trail. We got a bit turned around at one point and looped back to somewhere else on the trail. But we were able to take a shortcut back to our car from where we ended up. It was really pretty though. Nice flowers and beautiful trees. Very wooded, easy trail to hike.

Definitely for biking, not for hiking. (sorry)

Loved this trail!

Awesome trail through the middle of two lakes. Lots of bird life, and the E & SE portion of the loop is nicely elevated for larger views.

Park at the Orninthology Center. A few parts of the lake portion are submerged, do be ready to walk on boards & rocks. Mostly the trail is comfortably wide and solid for walking.

Loved it!

Great Hike. Good for dogs. Only thing is to watch out for bikers. I met some speedy bikers along skinnier parts of the trail and they’re traveling pretty fast so just be careful. Also, many bikers don’t yield to you like they’re supposed to. Lastly, it’s not a really well marked trail. There are multiple splits that don’t tell you which way to go, so be wary of that.

If you are visiting the city, the canal walk is one of the activities you will not want to miss.

Relaxing and surprisingly dry.

If you love just walk alone with kids its amazing. We loved it signs made us laugh. TY whoever keeps it so nice. No trash at all we even were prepared pick up some while there didnt find anything.

Nice trail with some elevation changes (a rarity in Central Indiana!).

The access road from East 96th Street was closed so we parked along Crystal River Drive which parallels some of the trail. There were a couple openings in the brush and we took one to hop on the trail. No leaves on the trees or bushes made this much easier as we could see the trail through the blank trees/brush. We walked north to 96th Street and then back South to the 465 underpass. We had the trail to ourselves on a mostly sunny day. We picnicked at the 96th Street trailhead and observed (and then ignored) the trail closed sign. The trail was somewhat muddy despite not having had much recent rain or snow. Just winter precipitation I guess. Without leaves on the trees there were great views of White River.

Just discovered this trail on All Trails app and I live close enough to walk there! What a great trail for hiking or trail running. Lots of variation, ups and downs to keep your blood pumping, over many fallen trees on the trail, under them as well. Today the trail was muddy in several spots, difficult at times to know if you were on the actual trail, no markings.....but all that said, I can’t wait to get back over there and do it again!

I live near here so an annual pass is a must! This is a beautiful park 15 minutes from Downtown Indy, though you’d never know you were so close because of the setting! I run this trail often, it’s about 6.5 miles if you complete the loop. You have some slight elevation, run beside a lake, lots of variation. I’d rate it as a very enjoyable somewhat moderate trail. If you’re experienced more of an easy rating. It’s definitely worth your time to visit Eagle Creek Park and the Red Trail is my favorite of all!

Nice little trail. Very windy with moderate elevation changes. Hikers do not believe the title at the park, it is NOT difficult. What makes it difficult is that this is shared with bikers and very few follow the one way/yielding rules. All traffic is to go one way and bikers yield to runners and hikers but they dont. Like always, people are what is wrong with the trail. Would be a good workout for a biker with few obstacles but frequent and sudden elevation changes.

I hiked the Red and Orange trails. Both were nice, but I definitely enjoyed the Red more. The park overall is beautiful and has a good variety of trails! It was pretty busy when I went, but since I’m a solo female hiker I didn’t mind. I will definitely go back.

Trail follows the western shoreline if Eagle Creek Reservoir. Trail maps are not available from Indy Parks. Outstanding views of the reservoir. Some low lying areas are extremely wet. Times of heavy rains will probable make portions of the trail underwater. Lots of blowdown on the trail.

This is a narrow benchcut singletrack built and maintained by Hoosier Mountain Bike association. It is of 3 serious mountain bike courses in Indianapolis (besides Town Run and Southwestway). Keep this in mind as there are MANY places exclusive to foot traffic in Indianapolis. It's not that it's popular with Mountain Bikers it's one of the few places they are allowed ... and they are required to buy an additional $20 annual pass for the privelege.

There is also hiking only off-road trails in the northeast section of the park along fall creek. The trails there are wider and it's easier to negotiate passes

Portions of green trail share the same footprint as orange trail on the south and blue trail on the north. The north-south leg of the trail are within a few yards of I-465 and I-65. Very noisy and not to picturesque along that portion. Appears to be a good cross country skiing trail due to it being a flat trail. Someone has used it for that as there were ski tracks in the snow. Highlight of the hike, spotted a big buck crossing the trail. However, I was to slow to get a picture.

Coming from California so my rating is probably reflective of that. Enjoyed the walk (don’t consider it hiking really) and it was relatively pretty. Too easy, didn’t find it that strenuous (I️’m kind of in-shape but don’t think this would be tough for any average person). My main complaint is, as others have said, regarding the narrow path- there are a lot of mountain bikers. Everyone is polite but it can be tough to get to the side in certain places. Not enough to view and not enough inclines for me. Also could be longer. Enjoyable though!
