A gorgeous short loop that offers a decent challenge and some great views of the sandstone formations.

I have hiked this trail multiple times. I have also ran the trail. It is a really good work out and beautiful area.

Beautiful trail, hiked it about 2 weeks ago. A bit challenging to start (we went clockwise), just watch your feet. Middle section is gorgeous. Definitely will do again and also a great place to take guests.

Quick little trail, interesting to see the rock fort and hike up a beautiful cascading waterfall.

Wild flower wonderland, rocks and waterfalls. Great start to the day of four trails total near Giant City park lodge.

Loved this trail! Difficult on the knees but definitely worth the trip. It had rained a lot the past few days so there was a lot of running water.

This is one of my many favorite trails. I have walked it in all seasons and there is always something breathtaking about the scenery, even in the winter. When the leaves have fallen, I see more of the bluffs. I walked it today and things are budding and there are no flying bugs or spider webs in my face because it's so early in the year. I look forward to seeing it again all blossomed out.

great cliff to picnic on

The scenery is not great probably because of the season - there are barely trees with leaves on. The trail is not hard. It took us 40-50 minutes to finish it. There wasn’t much to see except for some frozen waterfalls. I think it’d be better to go when it gets warmer.

A neat little trail. Short enough it doesnt take up but and hour or so. It has many interesting features and a couple of interesting caves that are big enough to go back into.

Climb beside a waterfall just be careful rocks are slippery. Up to the stonewall interestin to think what that wall was actually used for.

One of my favorite trails in giant city. Sign says rugged I'd rate moderate: plenty of places to sit and take a break. Trail is mostly through rock overbluffs and flowers.

Very close to makanda boardwalk go ahead and stop by you won't regret.

Really a nice trail hugging some beautifully intricate rock formations on the lower part, then ascending rock and wood staircases to reverse the trip on the top of the bluffs. Plenty of waterways that could be nice waterfalls during a rain. Wildflowers galore this time of year. Generally a moderate hike but the trails use Creek beds so some parts are over rugged terrain

easy short hike

Friday, March 24, 2017

I did this trail with my son last summer. We both thought the Stonewall was interesting, but I thought the best part was hiking along side the edge of the Bluffs. It's great and has a lot to offer for such a short hike!

A short hike along the base of a bluff and then around the top.
