Whenever I’m in the area (or @ #CampingWorld to dump the rv) i make a point to spend some time here. It is very peaceful with a variety of trails and numerous parking areas throughout. It never feels crowded, but then I often go during the week. It’s open later than most parks which tend close right at “sunset” which is my favorite time to be in/at a park.

Pretty decent trail that has some cool scenery. It is quite hilly in patches though and be sure to spray yourself down with repellent before you head out

Fun on a bike . The downhills after the climbs are like rollercoaster rides.

Great trail, I bring my toddler in our stroller with our two dogs almost every week! So beautiful

Took my septuagenarian parents on this beautiful hike on a cool summer day. They loved it. Beauty abounds!

Decent trails that go through woods. Some hills and lakes that are nice. Nice place to visit

Beautiful day for a hike yesterday. First time at the Park. Trails are in great shape. Hiked 3.5 miles.

My favorite trail in area!

Good signage, 3 loops including dam offering variety of distances.

Every season is beautiful, check it out you won't be disappointed!

Nice trail. Did 6-7 miles. Paved and crushed limestone. Not too many hills, and great for biking, walking. Not necessarily a "hike".

Had a great time. We have two reactive dogs, but were able to go out on the Kettle Woods loop (3.74 miles) and did not encounter a single other dog. Walked past quite a few people and there were some creepy single men hanging around, if you catch my drift, but I almost feel like that happens at any park anymore. All in all a beautiful park!

Nice trail, easy with minimal elevations. Late October hike the leaves are gone, but still some birds and reptiles to see (turtles an garter snakes).

I enjoyed walking in on the boardwalk! I have been here several times, although it has been several years since the last time i was there. Once I was there in spring and teeny frogs were hopping all across the trail!

I enjoy riding my bike here because the trails are wide and often paved. Much of the mileage is out in the open so a summer day can be a scorcher in the direct sun. Runners who prefer roads should be comfortable on these trails. Mostly wetland views.

This park is very nice. I didn't see very many birds but the scenery was beautiful

The grounds are well kept and the hiking is great. My husband proposed to me on Lake Defiance and will always return whenever we visit Illinois. TIP* bring bug spray

Very nice trail. Lots of wildlife and things to see. Also nice that other trails connect to this loop (like the McHenry Dam) so you can turn this run into a longer loop.
