HikingGreat!

The crooked part of the loop takes you to a rock wonderland - this rivals Giant City!! When you get to the green boxy bluffs it is enchanting, with crevices and tunnels and dens to explore! Then the “tip” of the loop and the straight path back are VERY hard to follow. You end going through a pine forest with a lush needle floor.

Short and sweet! Signage says the “fort” up on the bluff actually may have been a peaceful meeting place for Native American Indian tribes.

nice trail, difficult to follow because minimal trail markers. Interesting rock formations. We had 9, 6, and 4 year olds and a dog. Great fun!

Easy hike to see some interesting rock formations. Didn’t take nearly the hour the trail marker said it would.

The signage made it fascinating - to imagine Indians sheltered under these rock shelves!

Go beyond the sign explaining the Devil’s Stand Table to wrap around the bluffs a bit. To hike ON those bluffs and be at eye level with the top of the Devil’s Stand Table do the Post Oak Trail.

Emerald City - giant rocks dusted with moss and lichen! Names and dates chiseled in stone cover huge walls.

HikingGreat!

This is a trail to hike in fall, winter and early spring before grasses start to grow up. This trail will be overgrown in the summer with lots of ticks. The trail starts along a path under the power lines. 200-300 feet under those lines you will see the trail to the right. It is not an easy trail. Lots of up and down and crossing several creeks. It winds through several stands of pines. It is part of the River to River Trail so horses may be on the trail. Just follow the River to River trail markers and you will stay on the trail.

CampingGreat!Muddy

I came out to this trail with some friends for a backpacking trip. The Panther Den rock formations are awesome so be sure to plan on some extra time to explore the area. We camped not far from the rock formations in a valley with a neat rock overhang. There were some thunderstorms in the forecast and we were glad to have that added layer of shelter if we needed it. The campsite area is very nice and open with plenty of good spots for tents or hammocks. We shared the area with some other backpackers but we couldn’t hear or see each other much due to the geography of the area. There was not much running water, but there were several large, clear pools we collected from and we were told there was a lake nearby. Loved this trail and I hope to visit again someday.

Fun trail. Went during the fall with lots of leaves covering the ground and path. Would definitely suggest to download the map. Minimal trail markers present.

HikingOver grown

We hiked this on November 2nd, and agree with many of the reviews. However, it was nice to hear someone ended up hiking 17 miles, we hiked 15 miles. On top of it, because the trail is marked as 12 miles, we started getting worried after 13 miles, because it was soon to get dark, and no one had brought a flashlight along. But, right around 4 o'clock we came to the end, and yes, my gps said 15 miles. Like everyone said, it was well marked, but at times we too, lost the trail. At this time of the year, many many leaves have fallen, and sometimes overfowed the trail, making it difficult to find. Other than that, a nice 'walk in the park'.

More like 12 miles. The dense leaves on the ground made it a fairly difficult hike and with how dry it was there wasnt any water to see. It was still a fun day hike.

Fairly well marked just pay extra attention at the road crossing! Would be even better after a rain or in the spring, waterfalls weren’t flowing much. Still worth the hike!
