Good easy trail. First half is paved then you go to dirt once you hit the greenhouse.

Love this trail. Flat and also tree lined with streams and a lake. Lots of parking and easy to walk. A great place for picture taking

Beautiful historical trail, I live by it and never knew it was there. Tip for women: don't go by yourself. it's by a not great area of Joliet and the state prison is right there too.

Quiet gem in Joliet. I enjoyed the interpretive signs exploring the Iron Works and the working life of the workers who built Joliet.

This area pleasantly surprised us. The path is well maintained and the nature center provides lots of activities for kids and families. The greenhouse is also a nice stop.

Interesting old iron works. Plus the old buildings you see on the other side of the railroad track

Cool history and different things to look at!

Nature center and greenhouse are great, so is the driver through. One of our favorite places to walk.

Great trail! So much along it! If you walk the whole thing you can get a badge from the county!

Great place to take kids for history lesson or Pokémon Go game. great photo ops as well

Was a pretty view! Very peaceful.

Not a nature trail but a great walk through the ruins of an old iron works. Seeing toehold prison through the trees and reading the informative plaques is a great way to spend some time learning the history of the area.

The cement paved "trail" was less nature oriented than a hiker would generally pursue, because it mostly featured industrial ruins and information about the materials' production process. Was educational about the wage workers' culture and lifestyle in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, during Joliet's booming steal/iron/limestone industries after the Chicago fire increased production demands. Connects with the I & M Canal bike path, and has a view of the historical castle like state penitentiary.

Intermittent maps and colored posts were helpful as to not get lost. Too manicured for my taste when I would have liked to feel more removed from humanity.

Terrific asset for the south suburbs! I've biked most of the trail at various times and use a local segment twice a week for regular bike rides. Well maintained and safe, at least from Joliet to Matteson.

if not for the stops you have to make at intersections with roads, this trail would be perfect. great scenery. good length. nice amount of benches to rest on along the way.

A very informative trail with signs that explain how the iron worker lived and their working conditions.

Pilcher Park is a great place for families. They have the hiking trails, the Nature Center, water for fishing, picnic areas, as well as kids play areas. You can also check out upcoming events via Joliet Park District. Best time is early summer for frog and turtle viewing and fall for obvious reasons.
