Nice wooded dirt trail. A little overgrown in places but not really an issue. Good for seeing insects, flowers, birds, and deer. If you go during summer bring bug spray as mosquitoes can be an issue.

Honestly, haven’t been there in a long time. But have always enjoyed Messengers Woods. Spent many a summer there at Girl Scout camp as a kid, and family picnics. In the 70s it was a teen hangout, at least for a while. Fast forward 10 years, took my kids hiking here. Another 10/15 years, and I hiked here with my hiking buddy. Fond memories.

I liked some of the trail but it was muddy and there was a ton of bugs...I had the trail to myself.

This used to be our favorite trail in the area. Sometime in the last couple years they messed with the wetland portion and now one of the 3 trails is flooded over year round with no flow leaving massive mosquito breeding grounds. The trail closest to the flooded one will flood itself if it's rained days before. Very disappointed to see it going down hill like this

Messenger Woods is one of Will County’s oldest forest preserve sites. It is known throughout the region for its abundance of spring wildflowers that carpet the forest floor.
