This trail is a series of interconnecting paved trails. It is around a core of the west end to the Heritage Connector Bike Trail, with the Ray M Schon Memorial Park walking path looping around the small park lake and the Greenspace North Walking Trail that meanders through some woods. It is a pleasant, easy, paved trail in some woodlands in the city of Glen Carbon, Illinois. It is well developed with several benches to stop and enjoy the surroundings. On the west end the Heritage Bike Trail intersects with the Nickel Plate Bike Trail, or the Heritage Bike Trail continues to the east to connect to other bike trails if you would like to go further.Show more

Heritage Trail is a paved bicycle trail that is very popular in the area. This walk includes a very short segment of this multi-use trail to access the Greenspace East park & it's paved walking trail. Both are easy hikes/walks, starting with Heritage, which is a rails-to-trails corridor through some forest and residential areas. There are a number of birds living in the trees along this corridor. Turning off Heritage into the Greenspace East loop introduces a few minor hills as the trail meanders up a small hill through forest into a prairie loop area. It is popular for dog walking with a paved trail and a few sheltered park benches and trash receptacles along the route. This is one of several paved hiking/waling opportunities in the Glen Carbon/Edwardsville area. They are nice opportunities to get outside while still avoiding the muddy natural surface trails in wet weather.Show more
