At Schweitzer Woods you will find a 5 acre fenced dog park with a large open play space in addition to some wooded trail hiking. Surrounding the fenced dog park is 150 acres of beautiful unfenced trail hiking through woods and meadows. I found it a little odd that both wooded trails dead end to nowhere.

Bring your own water/bowl for your dog.

lots of bikes. took our dogs and found a trail that was quiet andd woodsy. dogs loved it. main entrance was very busy and lots of bikes. my dogs hate bikes

Nice park. Great signage all of the trails are labeled. There are different trails you can do and numerous scenic look out points. Also a scenic drive if you want to go back to the top to take some photos or watch the sun set.

Enjoy the inside trails. They are so much fun and very scenic.

The trail was in great shape. Markings are very easy to see and there are plenty of them. If you are doing the full loop you want to take Dogwood (it splits, left is neat), then it turns into Ridge, then Hickory, then Hickory North, then be sure to peel off left to Fern Hollow, cross the road and continue. Then Hickory South. The last mile marker you will see is 5miles. Roughly 5.5 mile loop.

Excellent trails lots of friendly runners!

Marked well and well maintained. Great views at the top.

Went this past Saturday when the temps were in the mid 20’s and had the whole place to myself practically - only saw 5 other people all day - if i went again i would hike the other paths counterclockwise to avoid the hills

Not bad but some areas can be noisy due to traffic.

great cliff to picnic on

Nice, easy trail around a lake. Saw lots of bluebirds.

Stunning place!!!

I love this park it keeps me coming back every year great place to hike I know the trails by heart now I've been there so many times for me just a great place to be it's got some pretty nice of views if I could give anybody advice when you're there I would say go down the yellow Trail so you can play on all the rocks and all the cliff sides as you go back down to the parkinglot.

The scenery is not great probably because of the season - there are barely trees with leaves on. The trail is not hard. It took us 40-50 minutes to finish it. There wasn’t much to see except for some frozen waterfalls. I think it’d be better to go when it gets warmer.

Went out here to check out the county's exploratory trail signs. It's a nice hike on pavement through some of the lovely scenery of SW Cook County

Great trail. it's hard to stay on track and do the full 7 miles. I think we managed to get 4 in today. Shared use for bikes, horses and hikers and dogs can run off leash. There's not many places to get outside but this is a great place to go in Central Illinois.

falls were dry but very nice walk.

a simple hike for any time of year

Great hiking trails

My favorite hike, but then I might be prejudiced since it's practically in my backyard. The trail as depicted is closer to five miles. To get right under 6 you need to include goatcliff trail.

Not well marked so I ended up walking more like 9 miles and had to use my phone half the time to figure out GPS...otherwise it's nice. Lots of creeks.

Nice climb to great view and historic shelter.

Easy, fun hike. Moderate elevation changes and lots of stairs. Nice river views at several spots along the way. However, nothing really that amazing and nearby construction noise kind of ruined the ambience.

I've wanted to bike along Lake Michigan for years and we finally did it yesterday. It was everything I'd wanted. The path is well-used but not overcrowded. The views are amazing the entire way. We went from north of Irving Park all the way down to the museum campus. Terrific outing.

Great trail. The heavy woods were beautiful. I was hoping for more scenic vistas of the river valley but there were enough look outs to satisfy me. We will be going back again to see how it changes when the leaves drop.

Fun trail with rocks for the kids to climb. Lots of poison ivy just to the side of the beginning of the paved trail. Good viewing area at the top.

went there yesterday for the first time. Beautiful place. I didn't see any trail maps or markings at all which I didn't like, but really enjoyed the peacefulness of the place.
