Def need to come back and spend more time here. not a big park, but the feeling you get reminiscing of the Indians and how they must have lived was inspiring.

We had a blast! Definitely be back!

Nice and calm nature walk with a few neat sights and great for kids to go through. Trail is clean and saw a lot of small wildlife in the area.

paved the whole way, and interacts with major roads in several places. granted, that’s about as woodsy as it gets this deep into the suburbs. can be somewhat busy but never too crowded. excellent for biking. can also be supplemented by the very pretty trail around the lagoon, which also passes by the botanic gardens if you want to make a day trip out of it

Didn't walk the full trail but this is an amazing way to get around outside of the city streets if you don't mind walking.

Another fantastic trail in Chicago. This is a bit of nature set outside the city, offering a breath of fresh air with some epic views.

Off the beaten path but a nice change for those used to the relatively flat trails of Illinois'. Trail is not kept up very well and had tall vegetative growth when we hiked it. Very cool Tunnel entrance at the end and other abandoned railroad remnants can be found along the way.

Short, rugged, and very scenic trail that climbs alongside a wet-weather waterfall and skirts (sometimes almost perilously so) the tops of some tall cliffs. A great short hike to tackle after work or school.

Great trail with nice views, perfect for a bike ride

This is an easy hike to an awesome spot. Definitely off the beaten path, but the trail is easy to follow. When you get to the natural area sign just follow the bluff line past the power line clearing to the cave.
Make sure to keep following the bluff for a little way after the cave, as it is very spectacular. Definitely one of the coolest places in the Shawnee National Forest. Also be prepared to be accompanied on your hike by a friendly black lab.

Interesting place with statue's. Nice place to stretch your legs

nice ride on hot day

Not sure the recorded track is the "main loop:" there are some natural surface trails to the west of the track shown here that form nice short hiking loops of 1.5-2 miles long. Segments along the Rock River are especially appealing. Some other areas are buggy in summer and muddy in winter. Overall, a worthwhile way to spend an hour.

Scenic flat concrete trail next to Lake Michigan. Can be warm later in the day so I recommend early morning running. You can meet the River Walk as part of your run.

Went from 12 foot wide nice trail to barely negotiable dense woods full of poison ivy

love this loop. some of the hills are a bit challenging but with a couple of breaks you can make it. take at least 2 liters of water, camel backs work great. stay on trail and use deet spray or ticks can be bad. enjoy

A gorgeous short loop that offers a decent challenge and some great views of the sandstone formations.

This is an excellent 10 mile loop about 10-15 minutes off of I-70. It's definitely worth a stop for those traveling through to stretch your legs. Trails are open to hiking, trail running, and mountain biking.

For mountain biking, I would rate these trails as intermediate. They flow through old growth forest along the banks of Mill Creek Lake offering great views while riding. These trails have a little something for everyone, and you get out of them what you put into them....the faster you go, the more challenging they become.

I have hiked this trail multiple times. I have also ran the trail. It is a really good work out and beautiful area.

Very flat hike. In and then back out on the same trail. Waterfall was not running as it is the dry season. But still an awesome easy trail. Benches near the falls for anyone who walks in and wants to relax and absorb nature without having to sit on rocks or the ground.

Its a great place to go Roller Blading! Trail is alway paved nicely and always clean of debris.

The area was beautiful but definitely not conducive to biking. Lots of hills + gravel/sand = not easy (as marked in the description).

anyone planning on hiking the entire trail in one trip? I really would like to do it but I don't really want to go at it by myself, and if anyone has already done it I'll take some pointers on where I can resupply on food and whatnot along the way. thanks!

The best way to discover the beauty of Chicago’s skyline and Lake Michigan! If you’re a local or out of town tourist, I recommend this to anyone who would like to run or bike towards the heart of downtown or their first time in Chicago.

Visiting here my whole life..! Will always be one of our Family faves...

Beat to do on a weekday as the park gets crowded with beachgoers and tourists, especially around Navy Pier. The flyover at the pier is running way behind schedule, now estimated for sometime in 2019.

We love hiking with our dog here.
Trials allow hikers, runners, cyclists, and horses
Plenty of room to explore !
My pup loves the creeks, the woods, and fields.
Highly recommend!!

Beautiful BEAUTIFUL!!! spot at an convenient location
