Excellent trail Have walked all the way from Dam no 4 Woods to Big Bend Lake had a ball doing so.

This trail is not ment for hiking or road bikes. The description should be changed so as to not confuse people. I love that this spot is along the river.

This is a wonderful place to go hiking with my family and my pets. We always have such a good time and sharing time together in the woods and getting some great exercise. I live out of state so always looking for a place in which allows pets off leash so they can get their exercise when I return.

Where do you park your vehicle for this hike? Never mind...I think I found it via Google Maps.

the trail was good but this alltrails app sucks it doesn't follow the trail very good and it dosen't go all 160 mile from elisabthtown to grand tower. this was 1st time using this app and was not impressed!

Peaceful trails, rarely see other people. Many deer, owls, raccoons, coyote, snakes, butterflies, many bird species and beautiful wildflowers. Best when trails are not overgrown. Great place to view the sunset. Remember to use tick spray.

enjoyed this trail. think it will be great when the leaves fall. parts in the woods were in good condition and tight but not so tight that I ran into the brush. a couple really nice views and a few fun small bridge crossings. the small out and back at the West side of my recording was a dead end and not really worth the hike. happy hiking

Good trail but no water available.

awesome trails !

Great weather...went for a hike. Nice and dry, not slippery at all. Sprayed myself with bug spray prior to the hike so no problems at all. Looped it twice in opposite directions. Would make a really nice trail run also. Only issue...and it's minor...could use a few more trail guides giving direction.

This is my favorite trail so far! Loved how nice and flat it is and the option of biking off the trail to look at the houses especially the Frank Lloyd Wright homes in the Ravine Bluffs neighborhood of Glencoe as well as some of the ravine neighborhoods in the Ravinia section of Highland Park. The only negative I have is the narrow path right when you get on from Wilmette. But that is just a short while and the rest is worth it. Make sure you check out the Butterfly Hatchery along the way.

Easy but fun hike.

Challenging! Little easy to get lost but just follow your white marks!

Beautiful and peaceful trail with lots of prairie plants and flowers. Wide trails make it enjoyable for bicyclists as well. Would have liked more views of the lake itself, but it is probably good that the shore is kept natural. There are a few viewpoints. Will definitely be going back.

Loved this little spot! One of the few in the city that feels like an oasis! Trails are easy and paved, but the nature is very beautiful. Lots of butterflies, wildlife, a lovely little lake/pond, and tons of wildflowers! Stunning little place. As good as it gets in Chicago, that’s for sure!

Definitely worth the trip, but hard to find and navigate after finding stoneface. The entrance to the park is not marked and the culvert has been washed away. You can park at the base of the road and walk in to the trail head (~.25mi). The trail leading to the face is clear and marked with blazes, however not well maintained. We continued on what we thought was the correct trail past the power lines, however ended up on Shawnee Rd. (If this happens to you, turn R and follow the gravel road and turn R on stoneface Rd and you’ll return to your car in roughly ~1mile).. I would recommend turning around and following same path down once you reach the power lines. We want to hike the trail again and attempt to find the loop.

Went on a Sunday morning with my dog and it was beautiful. Great views from the top of Mount Hoy plus a good workout to get there! Definitely want to go back to explore more of the trails. The lake seemed to be getting busier by mid-morning but the trails still were lightly trafficked.

Very well defined paths. Accurate maps located in the visitors center. Few great views, probably more appreciated when the leaves fall but the tree canopy is nice on a warm day.

Lovely place to kayak

Very pretty. The hike takes you north along Lake Michigan. The area seems very well managed for invasive plant removal. The trail connects to the trails in Illinois a State Beach for an extended hike. The southwest trail is a foot path through vegetation.

Love this trail, my go to place to be. Low traffic, fantastic overlooks.

Maybe we went to the wrong spots, but we tried at two different areas, and both were a bust. One was very hilly, wrapped in all different directions, and took us right where we started. It seemed very easy to get lost in there. Another area was along the Fox river, but very short. Probably a great place for cycling, and very pretty views, but we don't plan to go back.

Exceptionally beautiful trail that is well maintained featuring small hills and plenty of shade. Cannot recommend this loop enough.

It was a nice trail with but needs a lot of overdue trail maintenance. Even with gps maps we still got lost several times. If the trails were better maintained it would be a definite 5 star!
Did the full hike with a 9 and 11 year old. The mosquitos were horrible. I always try nondeet sprays first but even with deep woods off they were bad. This is sometimes unavoidable in Illinois.
We plan on coming back but with no kids and no dog. Our dog was covered in every type of weed and burs because the trail was overgrown in several spots.

A quick jaunt through the prairie. If there were trails leading to the dramatic rocks pictured here, they were closed during my visit. I saw the buffalo pens, but they were devoid of buffalo. The effigies are unrecognizable.

The birds were out in force today

Walking with the Lagoons in sight feels nice to be alive and then of course Botanic Gardens in bloom is even better. Do not do a loop coming back to Tower Road. The traffic off the expressway cuts into the serene experience. .
