Mountain bikingGreat!

Rollerblading south to north ave beach was a fun but if your going north towards Loyola it gets rough with the little hills. Overall good ride

Humboldt is the most underrated park in the city. Beautiful wildflowers, lagoons, cool old buildings. It’s a treasure.

Great park in an urban area. It has quick truck foods. It has a little bit of everything for everybody. Not the best for bikes.

Running

One of the most underrated parks in Chicago. I live blocks away and it is very convenient to access. I usually combine this route with the 606 to add miles to my runs. I would recommend going early mornings to avoid larger groups of people. This park is very peaceful before the crowds arrive.

The only reason this isn’t 5 stars is because the trail(s) can get a bit crowded at high traffic times. Most recently I went for an evening ride, around 9:30 pm and the lanes were wide open. Weather was perfect and the view of downtown spectacular.

Adler Planetarium has amazing views of the city skyline and has shades under trees for picnics. Plenty of cyclists, runners, and people who are just exploring the city. Going further south leads to Northerly Island which is a nature sanctuary that is still in the middle of revamping habitats.

Start on the south side and work your way up! The skyline from the south is and always will be a better view and it's great to have it as your "guide to halfway" focal point through the first half of the trail. Note that the trail from Ohio to North is closed and beaches are not currently accessible. Also, wear sunscreen! You are walking in direct sunlight for almost the entirety of the trail. For a city hike, it sure is spectacular!

Gravel path on a large part of the trail, good for jogging, hiking, biking, but I would not skate on gravel. There are some paved spots but not as smooth as the lakefront trail. Very good view of Lake Michigan and sail boats from the harbor as well as along the path.

If you want some nature in the city, head here. Enjoy the oriels and many other birds and beautiful man made nature perks here.

Easy trail but really scenic for it being so small. Definitely beautiful in the summer if it's over 80 degrees with sunshine and little to no clouds. Ducks and birds are plentiful and the swan boats on the lake give it a unique liveliness. Would do this again for fun.
