There are many parks to drop in and pull out of along the way. To avoid drunk tubers on a hot weekend, drop into Killbuck Creek further south. The easiest exit is Hinchcliff Memorial Forest Preserve, which is located on the left side before merging into the Rock River.

Not bad for a trail close to Rockford but should be rated easy instead of moderate. Flat and wide, level trail. Nice sections along Kishwaukee River. Worth your time.

Very nice trail. We only went on the blue trail this time. The trail itself has half prairie and half forest, which created nice scenery to hike in. However, a warning for fellow hikers, there is a lot of mud on the trail of it rained the in the last few days. The bathroom is very well kept. There is a picnic area at the beginning of the trail and horses can come on to the trail as well. However, bikes aren't allow on the trail. There is a lot of snakes on the trail mostly Garter snakes which aren't poisonous or venomous.

Trail along river is very wet and muddy. Waterproof shoes recommended. Much of area is a flood plain and looks like it will be very buggy so replant is recommended. My hike was 4.4 miles. But there was a loop that had so deep water to cross which might make it the 5.1 as advertised. Many trail options. Was pleasant hike. Had my little Dog with me and he did fine.

September 11, 2016. Kayak trip from Baumann Park in Cherry Valley to Seth Atwood Park near Milford. Took about 4 hours. Beautiful and scenic. Fall colors just barely beginning. Water level at Perryville was 5.95 feet at the time. Nice flow and depth to the river. I didn't bottom out at any time. When I solo kayak I have been successful getting an Uber driver to take me back to my car. I have T-mobile and could not get reception at Seth Atwood. Fortunately, some other kayakers gave me ride to Blackhawk park (where they started) and I was able to get an Uber ride back to Baumann (about $7 chrage).

I like this segment better than Belevidere to Cherry Valley. But both segments are awesome. This is a great river. The people who live along and near it take a lot of pride in this river. It is deserved.

Not a bad park. I love to go here for a short ride but still give me a good workout.
