Nice wide, well-groomed trails. Plenty of wildflowers, birds, and frogs. Lots of bicyclists since it's a bike trail.

Scenic flat concrete trail next to Lake Michigan. Can be warm later in the day so I recommend early morning running. You can meet the River Walk as part of your run.

I cannot access this app on my IPad since the key pad covers the screen when I use my sign-in info. Totally useless.

This is a great path for biking, I don’t recommend for hiking. There is a lot of bike traffic. The Chicago Botanic Gardens opened a path on Lake Cook Rd in Glencoe, so now you can enter the gardens. I highly recommend visiting the gardens.

Nice trail but VERY confusing. There is a complete lack of signage in certain areas. We got lost more than once and had to ask anyone we saw on a bike where to go. Part of the trail was closed and we needed to carry our bikes up a huge flight of stairs. The trail itself is well maintained and very wide with interesting things along the way. Better direction signs would help!

The best way to discover the beauty of Chicago’s skyline and Lake Michigan! If you’re a local or out of town tourist, I recommend this to anyone who would like to run or bike towards the heart of downtown or their first time in Chicago.

Beat to do on a weekday as the park gets crowded with beachgoers and tourists, especially around Navy Pier. The flyover at the pier is running way behind schedule, now estimated for sometime in 2019.

As previously mentioned in other comments this trail is basically an extended edition of the Rim Rock Trail. You start off from behind the beach house at Pounds lake and walk along to the end of the lake then through a canyon area until you hit in my opinion the best part of the hike which is the stairs up to the rock formations. I wish this part had been longer as the rest of the 3 mile hike is really just a nature walk. The rock formations really made this hike worthwhile for me. So if you are in it only for the rock formations then save yourselves 2 extra miles and do the Rim Rock trail instead. However if you have some extra time to your day the walk along the lake and through the canyon was very pretty, scenic, and an easy stroll. Would not rate this trail as "Hard" by any means.

Accessible from the Des Plaines River Trail, Independence Grove is a marvelous year round destination. It has all you could ask for. Great paved and unpaved trails, fishing, boating, beach and food stand. I’ve even been to weddings here. Bike here from the trail, relax while you’re here, and continue on your way. A treasure not to be missed.

Beautiful all year round!

Amazing scenery and good
Place for fishing and running too! Love the geese!

I've wanted to bike along Lake Michigan for years and we finally did it yesterday. It was everything I'd wanted. The path is well-used but not overcrowded. The views are amazing the entire way. We went from north of Irving Park all the way down to the museum campus. Terrific outing.

It was bit overgrown in places but it was a beautiful trail.

very nice trail, not much to see except houses and railroad tracks. Some water fountains and benches, no bathrooms.

Great view of the city just too many people

Great trail, very cool rock formations. Trail was very easy to follow. Not sure why it's rated as hard, one of the easier hikes around.

Trail has sandy parts and dirt/stone parts. Nice mix of sun and shade with benches located throughout for rest stops. A beautiful array of insects but surprisingly I didn't see or get bitten by a single mosquito. Nice variety of flowers in all areas. Public restrooms are located at both trailheads and there is access to the beach from Dunes trail. I loved both of these trails and will definitely be back!

Very pretty spot for a hike. Not difficult to navigate and has other great spots around to hike.

No markers for directions but beautiful hike. The trail can get confusing when it gets close to the trail that it is connected to.

Unfortunately this trail is closed on the Fort Sheridan side. We decide to walk around the historically side of Fort Sheridan. We parked on the street. walked along some of the paths, read the historical markers, walked across the grass. When we returned to our car we just got there in time to talk to the police officer whom informed us there is no street parking with a permit. There are a few signs that say that but they are widely spaced out. The officer was gracious and allowed us to pass. When I asked him is there a place for the public to park he didn't give me a conclusive answer.
