Beautiful and peaceful trail with lots of prairie plants and flowers. Wide trails make it enjoyable for bicyclists as well. Would have liked more views of the lake itself, but it is probably good that the shore is kept natural. There are a few viewpoints. Will definitely be going back.

Hiked this loop in July on a sunny, 78-degree day. Trails very well maintained by forest preserve. You’re on the Illinois prairie and it is serene and quiet. A good hike or trail run any time of day.

Trails on the backside remain very wet for a while after a rain.

Did this one starting from Batavia. The trail is easy, well signalised and very scenic. It is nice to ride from downtown to downtown. If you are in the mood and have time you can do a lot of activities like museums, shopping, eating... I loved the bike auto services and that there are a lot of bike shops on the road.

Easy hike, but a lot of savanna; there isn't much shade, but the openness of the fields carries a nice breeze.

Somewhere between walking and hiking, but it is a nice easy 3-4 mile loop with nice scenery. When we were there, there was a gathering of cranes on the lake, so that was pretty cool to see.

We spend an amazing Sunday. Great super easy track with a pinch of technology.

Very beautiful spot, however trails are poorly marked.

I've lived in the area my entire life and went down the road past this trail countless times, yet never even knew it existed. It's a beautiful spot, but it's so incredibly easy to end up on a different trail. I went with my mother and my dog and, while beautiful, I really didn't want to end up walking as many miles as I did trying to get back to the parking lot. Incredible spot, though!

Very neat and clean. Beautiful views. Really close to the river.

i've been running here my entire life and i NEVER get sick of this place. it has been such a blessing to me and i have grown so much there as a runner. you can sometimes see snakes if you go on the path that leads to waubonsee, and you can see birds, chipmunks, muskrats, and deer! the leaves are lush in summer and gorgeous in fall! DEFINITELY come here! you wont regret it!

was a great day to head out and get some miles in before our trip to yellowstone - it is calming to look out and see some open space in the burbs!

Easy run, mostly well paved, flat, scenic and mostly uncrowded. Challenge yourself and swim river and bike the route for a mini triathalon! Bring your kayak or rent one along the way for more fun.

What an amazing opportunity! I appreciate having access to the grounds of this national lab.

Off the road and beaten path - a welcome change.

Plenty of trail to walk with our dogs. Lots of bridges and has the ability to visit both sides of the river. Gets pretty busy with bikers, walkers and joggers. Stop by the Fabyan Villa Museum and Japanese Garden grounds!

It was about 45 degrees today and the paths were wet and MUDDY! Wear good hiking boots... Paths are a mix of dirt, grass and rock. Overall, it was a nice, moderate difficulty hike.

I think the description of this trail needs updating or a new trail needs to be added. The trail is 43 miles from Oswego to Algonquin. There is a small part that goes through downtown Aurora that is clearly marked with protected bike lanes.

We started in Aurora and headed south to Oswego where we stopped to eat lunch and watch the Bears game. We turned around and went north to Batavia, turned around and went back to our car.

I really liked this trail. There are parts that are natureful and parts that are city and small town. There's a good balance which brought me piece of mind that if something happened we could get help.

If you work the whole site from Kirk to Batavia and take the nature trail around the outside barrier. It's a stretch. Pack a lunch and fluids.

Very nice trail in prairie surroundings. We walked as a family with two kids and our dog. A perfect walk on a sunny Sunday in September.

Nice walk through Illinois Prairie atmosphere. Quite with lots of birds, trees and Prairie flowers. About 4 miles over all.
