Too much snow at the top to finish the loop but worth the trip up just to see the lake. wIt's still a bit frozen over and has snow on top. Very beautiful! The trail was a little hard to stay on at times with a few fallen trees covering the trail and it was at times unclear where the trail was--but we managed. We saw a total of 4 people today and it was lucky we ran into them at the end of the trail because we wouldn't have realized we needed to climb up over some rocks to actually get to the lake so it was nice that they let is know that. We did this with a baby and it was only at the end of the trek to get to the lake that was a bit difficult for us. Definitely recommend!

Beautiful Hike. Made a day trip up from Boise early in the morning to check it out. Still has a good amount of snow (seeing as we had a ton this year) at the lake so you couldn't get around to finish the loop so we just did an up and back. Snow was melting decently near the streams so be careful to not fall through. Give it a few weeks to melt and it will be much easier to get to the lake. Cool hike for our first time and only getting about half way through it.

Not too rough, just a little rugged. Great view. Watch for hazard trees.

This was a fun and pretty easy hike! Our 5 year old made it the whole way up and back without any issues. The lake is beautiful and the hike has a lot of beautiful scenery along the way as well. I would highly recommend it for a quick day hike!

Absolutely love this trail, gorgeous mountains, scenic veiws and amazing beaches!!!

Our 8 mile hike was the perfect distance. The trail is easy to find, you start at the parking lot and walk on the left side of the river the whole time following an easy trail. (don't cross the bridges, different trail) On the hike you'll see a bridge 3.5miles into it. We walked another mile on the left side of the river and we finally saw (across the river) a stream coming down the mountain. We then walked across the river (1.5ft deep) and took our boots off. There's a trail that goes straight up the hill by that stream and it took us right to the hot springs! Two little pools at are nice and warm after a day of hiking. Will be going again!

It was a great hike, my 6 and 8 year old daughter's made it. We continued onto Anderson Lake. Great fishing from both lakes. It was a great for a first time backpacking. Nice spots on Boulder Lake to camp.

Luis lake is beautiful, with lots of fish jumping! No bait. 2 fish, size limits etc.
from the entry, you hike a ways and meet up with a logging road. take a left when you emerge and follow the painted rocks. Uphill pretty much all the way there, downhill back. Wear decent shoes or be prepared to take you time to avoid slipping.

Took this as an easier first jump to the more strenuous uphill past Boulder Lake to Anderson Lake. Trail starts easy then gets moderate with switchbacks before leveling at the dam. Ample camping around east end of lake, plenty of water sources for filtering water.

Option: Continue up the trail north of the lake to Anderson Lake. Uphill followed by a downhill to the lake. Decent fishing and swimming as well as jumping on the far side of Anderson.
