I highly recommend this trail it was beautiful! Wouldn’t recommend for younger children unless they do a lot of hiking, it’s a lot of up and down.

Beautiful. Arrived early and besides one other person had the place to myself. Beautiful views, hot and clear water, and serenity.

Great!

Day use parking is 7am - 9pm but I got there around 6am and the entire campground was empty. I had the place to myself for 2 hours and it was amazing!

One of my favorite hot springs I’ve visited so far. So much room, so much privacy and amazingly hot temperatures

Great trail! First 2mi are cake. But the last 1.5-2mi are a serious climb! If you have a gps be sure to utilize that. We staying a couple nights which I wouldn’t do again since it’s a busy day hike and popular backpacking spot. I prefer solitude. Elephants perch is stunning at sunset!

Awesome trail and great backpacking trip! Wish we could have stayed longer! The wildlife comes alive at night, walked right through our camp. A good tough backpacking trip

Off trailScramble

OK several FYI's for first timers. 1.) there is no direct vehicle access to redfish lake inlet. I did not know this lol. you either hike from redfish lake trailhead to the inlet campground (extra 6mile hike) or take a boat in from Redfish lake outlet campground which was about $20 there and back for 1 person. 2.) GO WITH A FRIEND. If you've read other hikers comments, super likely you will get lost since there's like 20 different paths that could be to saddleback lake. The Gia app GPS saved our butts on this one!! It was so helpful although still got lost off trail for about 2 hours. Despite what the trail guide said, KEEP RIGHT. And refer back to your GPS. 3. Last 1.5 miles up is definately a steep scramble. Super fun though, don't give up. 4. We went Sep. 19 and surprisingly the smoke had totally cleared. Overall, make sure you have good gripping hiking shoes, if you can't find the right path just keep right and keep trying. Saddleback lake is breath taking.

This was an absolutely lovely place. Gorgeous scenery, many hot springs (some are too hot, some are just right) and it was relatively quiet on a Saturday morning (8:30AM - only one other group). Make sure to check out the shack on top of the hill, and soak in the bathtub! Follow my instagram for more adventures @julie_journeys

Magical place on earth. River can be turquoise, tons of hot ponds and hot waterfalls. Very popular for a reason - pick an off hour or keep walking past the crowds to explore quieter parts of the river. Was happy to find a quiet pool and watch a deer pick some choice leaves off a bush across the river. Follow my instagram for more adventures @julie_journeys

Great spot. Definitely get there early to avoid crowds but since there aren’t too many pools it doesn’t get too busy anyway. Definitely wear water shoes or bring hiking shoes to navigate the slipper rocks, it’s worth it!

HikingGreat!

This was an awesome trip I did the loop in 6 days 5 nights the week before Labor Day with quite a bit of detours coming out right around 100 miles. This was my first backpacking trip so I learned a lot towards the end. I went clockwise on the trail. I used Backpacking Idaho book by Douglas Lorain for the first day for some sweat detours but is a different loop as I learned so it will be my trip for next year. The first day I went to Trail Creek Lakes and Observation Peak which provided heck of views and made it to just before the turn over to Stanley lake. The second day I went over to the Stanley lake just around Sunrise and went back on trail and then went on trail then detoured off to see the Alpine, Sawtooth, and the McGown Lakes. Worth the detour. The sawtooth lake was pretty crowded but mostly day hikers. Then the third day got back on trail and tried to detour over to Goat lake and found it to be too difficult with the amount of food I had so I turned around and got back in trail. Will have to try next time. I made it to the Redfish lake in the trail there I saw Marshal lake which was pretty dang cool. I camped not far from when you cross the bridge on top of a tree line beach by the redfish lake. The fourth day I took a couple detours over to the bench lake and that was probably one of my highlights with the perfect reflection off the water without people. Then got back on trail and then made it to the Redfish inlet and took a small detour over to the lily lake and the waterfalls which was pretty cool. Then I got back on trail and headed over to Hell Roaring Lake. That trail from the Inlet to the Roaring lake had quite a bit of dead trees and I ended up complaining to the forest service but be aware of the trail. Hell Roaring lake was pretty cool and ended up camping just a past a small lake between hells Roaring and Imogene. Day five went over to Imogen around sunrise and it was breathtaking with the reflection. Then wen over the hill into the Toxaway Lake area. I definitely suggest doing the hill in the morning with all the switchbacks. Then I went on trail and made it to Alpine lake by the end of the day. I saw Edna, hidden lake, and the Cramer Lakes. They were pretty cool The sixth day I woke up and saw the first small lake just about sunrise and went over to the baron lake during the best timing and got some of my best pictures I took. Them it was pretty much downhill from there to the trail head. Great trip you won’t get to see the things unless you go out there. I would suggest enjoying the moment a lot more then I did but there is so much to see. I suggest it to anyone.
