I lived near this trail head in the 90’s and there were only a few trails...fast forward 20 years later it has improved greatly... with 5 or more trails. I didn’t find them Particularly hard but with no shade you need to go early. Lots of beautiful flowers and great view of Boise once at the top.

Decent trail. I will try it again when it is less muddy. It was pretty but nothing special. Good for a work day hike/walk.

Great city walk. Very popular for bikes, scooters, etc. great for kids. You can go as far and long as you want.

Always an easy quick hike with a great view

An easy-going loop trail around the outside of the park with more challenging side trail options every now and then. The most attractive elements of the hike are the sharp declines down to the water and scenic viewpoints of the lake and resort area. Depending on the day, the foot traffic could range from a couple passersby to a few dozen (closer to the park entrance). There are more than a few good spots to get down and into the water; if you're feeling gutsy enough, there are some tall rocks to take a plunge from. All in all, a solid trail for hiking, trail running, long or short trips.

Mostly I just wandered

Loved this trail! Took us 75 minutes to go both up and down (not including our 10 minute stop at the top for the gorgeous view). A little steep on the way up and a bit rocky at the very end (depending on exactly which trail you start/end). So nice that it's close to downtown and gives such great views of the area. Would highly recommend!

Very muddy after the rain storm.

No matter how often you hike this trail the elevation is real. Short hike up (1.4 if you hike straight up) all pretty steep. Nice rest on the way down as it is all down hill. Great mountain and city views from the top.

This trail was beautiful, however it is not well recorded here in AllTrails. It gets very tricky to navigate about 3/4 of the way through. I’d recommend just follow the blue signs and try to use the app but know there will be two or three places where the app will misdirect you or where you will be facing sheer rock and not have an obvious choice that matches the map or gps via AllTrails. It’s not scary though - you won’t be lost in the woods. There are many little side trails and loops so you can make it work. I actually loved the hike. It’s longer than the app says. I believe it’s actually 3.5 miles but worth every foot. Gorgeous views along the river.

easy and good for all ages. I prefer to go earlier in the morning so there are less traffic.

Just what we were looking for - a quick hike close to I-90. Like others said, there are many different trails to go on so using the map on this app helped me stay on track. Then again you could just use any of the other trails! Leads to lovely places to jump in the river! Saw lots of people fishing and rock climbing. Wasn’t too crowded but we stopped to let others pass without getting too close. Trail was in good shape.

Extremely easy trail that is heavily trafficked. A way to escape the masses is to take the marked fire routes up the hill to reach the “summit”. Great views of the lake and downtown. An easy escape from the business of the city.

Nice easy trail. Close to home. No shade and heavy traffic. Beautiful view of the city at the top.

Saw a coyote out here today. Make sure to beware if you have a doggo

Not to bad of a hike. Fairly easy, and lots of people. There is some garbage, broken glass and dog crap on the trail as well as off to the sides from respectful jack wagons. But nothing out of the ordinary for being in town. A very comfortable hike to do.

Beautiful trail!!

The summit is somewhat dissapointing because of the tall tree's there is not much to see uptop. But the lakesides are great views!

Nice easy trail. Marked well. It took me 36 minutes to do the main trail.

Very short, easy walk. Beautiful views. Mist comes off the dam that is refreshing on a warm day. Picnic in the park to make an afternoon out of it.

Fantastic views of Shoshone Falls. Worth the $5 fee to get inside. I would highly recommend this for anyone.

It’s an ok trail. Not super scenic but here and there. Some sketchy areas and a lot is walking on the road. Did not really enjoy it with the kids.

Super muddy but really fun Ankle deep mud

A good family hike with views of downtown Boise. The final approx 1/4 leg is steep for small children, and parts of the trail have slippery silt like sand. It’s a great sunny hike with moderate traffic. Far off views of snow capped mtn range. It’s nice to see a cross still stands somewhere for the public to enjoy!
