This is not an easy trail. To get to the lake there is a hard climb almost straight up.

A constant uphill climb that ends at a small lake, which my husband and I thought resembled more of a pond. Upon suggestion of the only other two hikers we encountered on the trail, we ventured up further to Twin Lakes, which again were small lakes more like ponds. We commented as we hiked up Cabin Creek Trail the it seemed like an obstacle course and not well maintained. Lots of fallen trees that we either had to hike around or jump across. On the plus side, the wild flowers in the meadows were beautiful and the trail did follow a small stream that had little waterfalls. I would not do this hike again nor recommend it as there are many other hikes in the area that would be much more worth the time & views. Granted we may have been spoiled as the day prior we hiked Iron Creek Trail to Sawtooth Lake which was absolutely breathtaking!

Very busy trail. Hiked up to lower lake in the afternoon. Steady climb all the wa with nice views of surrounding peaks. Had expected to see more wildflowers as we had at Baker Lake that morning. Reached lake at 4pm and there was no one else there. Nice views across the lake and plenty of trout in the lake.

A really nice easy hike through swathes of wildflowers. The lake was relatively quiet as we hiked early but there were several families and groups hiking in ad we made the return...guessing it would have been quite noisy later! Definitely worth the effort to drive up to Baker Lake though just for the wildflowers.

we hike this trail every year when on vacation at alturus lake. lots of switchbacks and a beautiful rest about 2.5 miles in. a nice little sandy area on the creek. have seen lots of wildlife and some amazing views!

Hike was pretty easy. Not too far but it was mostly uphill all the way to the lake. There is a upper and a lower lake on this trail for anyone who didn’t know, so don’t forget to make it up to the upper. There was a lot of people on the trail, that’s my only complaint, but I’d recommend

I did not complete this trail due to my partner and I setting a tight timeframe. We traversed about an hour into the hike before turning back. The toughest part of what we did complete of this trail seemed to be the first mile having little real shade, some rocky footing, and some scramble over. The trail did demand elevation gain but it evened out after a more strenuous but not difficult first half mile. The trail follows a nice creek but shade is sporadic midday. The wildflowers are prolific! We started out in early afternoon in July and came back to the trailhead as a mild thunderstorm was brewing east of us. I would/will try this one again! Also, Lake Alturas nearby is a great place to cool off!!

Short and sweet hike up to a small lake. All the flowers were dead, but the views of the snow covered mountains made up for it. Some small patches of ice and snow but nothing crazy. The burnt trees are pretty cool. Easy hike overall.

Hiked it today. Quite chilly, but the steep grade kept me from getting too cold on the way up. I had my puffy on for the way down. A few patches of snow and ice but nothing too bad. You can take the trail all the way to Upper Norton Lake right now. I got snowed on during the hike back downhill. I guess I missed the waterfall. Really enjoyed this hike!

Hiked October 16, 2016. Trail was clear until about halfway up when the snow was beginning to settle. We were able to use footprints from previous hikers to make our way to the lower lake. We were unable to hike further because there was too much snow and we weren't able to find trail markers.

Easy hike for all ages. Lots to look at, from flowers to creeks, to the final destination of the beautiful lake. Lots of people on the trail.

This was a good, challenging hike with a great reward of a waterfall/ lake at the end! You won't have cell service before the first turn off, so be sure to study how to get there before you lose data. I would do this again!

Almost all uphill to get to the lake. It's a good trek but worth it to see the beautiful lake and waterfall on the way up. We really enjoyed this hike.

This is just about as good as it gets. We have been hiking in Ketchum for a month and this trail is one of our favorites.

Quiet and serene trail. However, not well maintained with a number of fallen trees and the trail kind of disappears as you approach the river crossing which seems to have moved from the one in the map. We crossed via the large, white fallen tree. At the end you are by a waterfall and a view of a sawtooth formation in the distance. We tried going further up toward the lake, but it became a bit of a scramble.

Great hike! Visiting from Colorado and was looking for a mellow hike with family and our dogs. The dogs got to cool off at the lake before turning around and heading back down. The wildflowers are amazing and the contrast between the burnt trees from the recent wildfires and the bright colors of the wildflowers are beautiful.

My map below is to Brodie Gulch Saddle. On the trail to Baker Lake at 1.4 miles (and .3 to lake) turn right on Apollo trail. there is a trail sign here. Then go .8 to the saddle. Beautiful. Then turn around and back to the trail sign. Turn right to lake and left to car. My map shows I did not go to lake as it had started to rain. This hike as of now has the best WILDFLOWERS.

The hike was great and relatively easy. We did this hike in the morning and another hike later that day. You have to drive to the trailhead a ways off from the main road. Would recommend

Beautiful lake and hike. Was great place to spend half the day with the family. For the average hiker, we ranked it more in between moderate and strenuous.

We made a day trip from Boise for a trail hike and dinner in Ketchum. It was a gorgeous day in late June and for us, this trail was "as good as it gets!" Very little traffic, moderate elevation, spawning fish in the tiny creek feeding into the lake, snow along the trail, mountain air. Good times!

Great hike! Going in it's all pretty much up hill. Beautiful view, lake is great!

Pretty lake and the hike is really easy. There was a fire a few years back and it hit this area pretty hard. It was still pretty though because all the burn allowed for new undergrowth and there was a lot of flowers. The lake is awesome as far as scenery. We fly fished and hooked a few but never landed them.

This trail is mostly incline. The wildflowers and views throughout are truly breathtaking, nothing beats the turquoise waters at the destination.

Hiked this with my two daughters and a friend of there's today 8-27-15. The weather was perfect and the hike itself was pretty easy but it seemed to be longer than 2.2 miles. A lot of burnt trees along the way but the lake was beautiful and we even jumped in before heading back down.

It was cool. I would prefer going in the morning when it's not so hot. Saw a mountain goat! Also monster fish at the lake. You should go.

Terrific trail, at 2.5 miles in the climb becomes intense until you reach the first lake

Nice views along the way. After about 2 1/2 miles the trail enters a sandy area near Alpine Creek. You can take the trail for several more miles up into the Alpine Creek Lakes area. The trail becomes difficult to follow in some areas after the sandy area. Eventually the trail appeared to come to a Y - one crossed the creek to the left but we took it to the right and never crossed the creek at any point. After several switchbacks, we made it to lake# 8523 on the map where another group had set up camp. Beautiful area with jagged peaks along the trail.
