Very fun and simple!

Beautiful quick hike through the forest with breath taking views at top.

Fun hike! Great views of the lake. Will definitely be back!!!

Very nice trail not to close to the city. Although I would say it’s more for biking it was still a great trail if you’re looking for something not difficult but a little challenge.

Nice cool trail

I would not call this trail easy....I would call it fun!! Lots of rocks, roots and rocky ledges to traverse. Beautiful scenery and beaches. We even saw a family jumping off a ledge into the lake!

Fun family hike. Amazing views. Plenty of spots to rest.

Beautiful easy hike with meadows and tall grasses. Had the trail to myself today

Lovely trail. I took my 4 year old with me and we had no issues. Also a great spot to look for bald eagles at the right time of year!

There are additional trails that take you up higher. We had a great time, but felt the burn later. Would hike again.

Pretty trail with a gradual climb. Take your time to notice the birds; western tanagers, buntings, cedar waxwings and nuthatches. The downside is the sound of the highway and the crowds

For being so close to town, it's a fun little hike for families. You can hear the road from the top so this isn't my version of the "best hike ever" and there are always others on the trail because it's so accessible. This is one trail where you can basically hike it all year long which is nice when you want to get outside.

We are from Florida and have never hiked in Idaho before. If you’re not used to hiking on steep trails, I recommend some conditioning hikes before hitting this one. The reviews that mentioned the first two miles and the last mile being the most steep are very accurate. The trail is narrow for the first two miles, and there are some soft slide spots that could send you rolling downhill if you’re not careful.

Overall, I would say the difficulty level of this trail is “moderate”, even for us flat-hiking Florida folks. The trail is very visible and well kept, making it difficult for those of us with no sense of direction to wander off. We saw many signs of elk including tracks and antler rubs on the trees. We also saw some bear scratch marks on a few trees. The forest is abundant with Swainsons Thrush, which create beautiful echoing songs through the trees. There are also ravens in the forest, and we saw and heard several.

There are people who wrote reviews stating there is nothing to see on this hike, no grand view. That is simply false. As you climb higher, there is a breathtaking view of lake CDA off the northwest side of trail. I have posted a photo of it in this App.

The trail is longer than what is listed in the description. We hit 5 miles on the GPS and still had not reached the turn around point towards the top.

If you park inside the gate of Beauty Bay Campground, there is an $8 fee payable by cash or check. If it’s not a busy day, you can park outside the gate at the three parking spots in front of the trail head, or on the side of the road, and avoid the fee.

Overall, this is a beautiful hike and a great workout. Enjoy.

Great trail with well-designed switchbacks to make elevation gain manageable. My 3 yo was able to navigate most of the trail solo, but it was challenging at points. Views of the mountains and CDA are beautiful, although hearing the highway most of the way was a slight drawback. Well worth the drive and a trail we will be doing again for sure.

beautiful views, a lot of switch backs so it's not too tough. a kicker trail up to Wilson trail is quite steep up and back.

This was a rewarding hike! A tad bit steep hill climbs, and some rocky areas to get all the way up to the tower but well worth it! Took trail 1 up to the top from the road & back. Great views!

A great, easy loop located right in downtown CDA. Views are gorgeous, and the trail is well marked. Got lost my first time out, but it was my fault for not paying attention to the trail markings. Great for dogs, too. Also, free two hour parking!

Been there two times already and loved it each time. The view is amazing and worth the hike up, definitely needed lots of water.

The views at the top made the uphill first half of the hike worth it! There are several benches along the way to allow for a little break before continuing on. At the top there were some offshoot trails you can take - we explored one and made it to another great view point.
