Nice little hike.

Tough mainly for lack of switchbacks (!) on this trail

Beautiful view when you reach the top!!!

Beautiful. Amazing. Friendly people on the trail. We loved it and plan on doing it again. Bring a sandwich and have a picnic with your friends and loved ones when you reach stack rock

This is an easily accessible trail, close to town. The climb can be intense, but the view is worth stopping for from time to time on the way up. Be sure to take plenty of water for the trip, especially in warmer weather.

Went in September, it was such a site to see. There is two ways in from bogus basin, left is a dirt road (faster) the other was a paved road. 4x4s can go left and don't recommend cars going left. App says kid friendly, my daughter who is 4 couldn't finish. If going in September bring cold weather clothes. Boise can be 90 and up there can be in the 5Os. 5 bucks to park your vehicle up there. Enjoy the amazing views to the north. Have fun

This was my first time out into the trails around Boise besides Table Rock. Loved this hike! It was shorter than I thought and might have to explore the expansion next time, but man the views at the top are unbeatable. It’s mid September so no flowers for now, but the fall colors and peaking through here and there and the weather is perfect.

This is definitely a trail that has elevation gain! If the temperature isn’t too high, it’s a good workout, especially if you’re older like me! Nice views of the southern Boise area and nice for a change from the more popular hike up Tablerock.

I gave it 4 stars because if the historical guide signs, but overall I would not rate this as a very difficult trail.

We're beginners and only did 2 hours but it was enjoyable with nice views. Quiet and peaceful, only a couple cars drove by us. Saw 3 deer trek up the hill next to us which was cool. Simple trail was easy to follow and walk up for us and my dog. Couple of steep parts but nothing crazy. Hope to make it to the top someday!

The trail was beautiful but hard to find. Like another reviewer, I ended up on tempest and then Face and crossed back Elk Meadows. It worked out but I nearly took a wrong turn that would have made for a long day. It was worth seeing and doing but I know I won't go back again.

Great trail to backpack train on. I take my weight vest here to do runs. Lots of traffic on the weekends but great early morning. Beautiful city view at the top for sunset and best sunrise view from the back part of the top.

We went too late in the day, in August, and it was HOT. It's a pretty exposed trail as well. Kind of steep near the end, but it's fun.

Fun hike but more of a biker trail or running.

Pretty awesome trail.

Great trail, mostly in the trees.

Pretty dry out there at the moment, but still provides beautiful views once you get up higher. Some areas are very narrow and steep headed down. Only came across one bike, unfortunately on a very narrow path, but he was very kind and we all got around each other without too much trouble. Most dogs are off leash, very little shade. Definitely bring water for the pups.

Nice hike! Not too tough but totally exhausted my dog, so that's awesome!

Great hike in the mountains.

parts of this hike were pretty, but we went counterclockwise around the loop and had to turn back when we hit a hill that was too steep to climb down — might have been doable if we went clockwise!

It was fun! A litter tough in some areas for the kids. I highly recommend going down and checking out the caves. There is some broken glass, but really cool otherwise.

Start early and do the loop so you get to see the bird observatory and the views from the back of the mountains are amazing.. you may have to closely follow the map as there are some three ways trail intersections along the way

It was a great first hike for us. There was a bit of traffic, but the views were great and the trail was well worn and easy to navigate.

Woke up and wanted to get out, so I tried this trail. The trail is very well made after and tended. Scenic views of the valley.

this was one of my first full trail hikes. slow and steady I did it. I was so proud of myself when I reached the top.

Great hike with great views. A little tough if your out of shape. Loose sand and gravel in spots. Take a water for the walk up and a Gatorade for the walk down.

I love this trail in the spring and fall! The views from the junction out across the valley are beautiful. The Shingle Creek drainage is quite a bit steeper than Dry Creek, and mountain bikes have worn the trail into a V, so it's a fairly technical downhill run.

My roommate and I just did this today. went up Dry Gulch and down Shingle. Awesome terrain and scenery change on the way up. Goes from plains desert to lush greenery to high altitude pine forest. Go early morning this time of year! Mormon Crickets we're in full force on the way back around 11:00am. The whole hike took a little over 4 hours.
