Amazing view of the falls! Trail was smooth and easy to travel.

Great little walk through the woods that leads to Lower Mesa Falls. If you are surefooted, make the descent down below for a more beautiful and closer look!

Perfect views of the falls!

Beautiful!! I loved all the info at different stops.

First of all, the first 3 miles of this “trail” is just a road. I drove it because the gate was open. After the road is over, there’s no trail at all. The vegetation completely over grew and hided the trail. I manage to go pretty far in with the aid of the GPS. However, the last quarter mile (which is a very steep down hill) I didn’t make it. No switch backs and no trail. So after sliding on loose rocks a couple times I decided to come back. It would have been to get down though if there was a trail. Notice that most reviews are talking about the little trail on the other side of the river.

lots of varied terrain, quiet, and beautiful views. it is a narrow track with lots of growth- long pants recommended. nice afternoon or day hike!

Walking around on a boardwalk really doesn’t count as hiking a trail... however, if you are in the area, I would definitely recommend stopping by. The falls are gorgeous and the volcanic canyon that the river runs through is also quite beautiful. The visitor center features a very thorough collection of animal pelts (to the dismay and delight of different people in my party) and some local information on wildflowers, rocks, etc. Bring bug spray!

Must see this if you are in SE Idaho. I come here once a year to enjoy the falls.

Easy walk on the boardwalk to the falls. Stunning view of the falls. The inn with staffed forest service workers is excellent as well! Get your national park pass stamped there.

Road is closed due to snow only made it to the lookout 3/18/2019. Will wait until it melts away before making descent to the falls. Still a great view

Beautiful falls

I definitely did not do the entire hike. I stopped at the overlook for my photos and walked in the trail for about a mile, then turned back. Was a beautiful area, but had a long day ahead, and thought it was the shorter of two trailheads.

Great waterfall!

We took the Mesa Scenic Byway and stopped at the falls. It was a 5$ entry fee. The parking lot leads to a beautiful old inn. The trails are not marked very well, but the trail is a loop. A few steps and you are down at the falls. Very pretty falls and canyon. Great little photo ops. The trail loops backs around and you are at the parking lot. There is a 2.5 roundtrip nature trail to take but we didn't have time.

Great boardwalk to take the kids on, and great views of the upper falls. This is worth the detour and stop to see.

great walk, easy for kids, take mosquito spray.

Wonderfully beautiful waterfall. We must have done a different trail to this waterfall as it was an easy walk down. Lucked out and we were one of the only groups there.

Wonderfully beautiful waterfall. Easy walk down, some stairs. Lucked out and we were one of the only groups there.

great little walk down to a beautiful waterfall. very kid friendly. worth the trip.

Wouldn't consider it a hike. It's more like something you drive up to and get a few pictures then go back home. Still beautiful though

Not really a “hike”, but absolutely beautiful!

More like a short walk, but the view is amazing

Amazingly beautiful. Fun easy nature hike with kids and dog to lower falls.

Mesa Falls is a beautiful waterfall. Definitely worth the drive and the $5.00 entrance fee.

Definitely worth the effort to take the scenic byway and stop for a visit. The falls are incredible. I wouldn't call this hike at all. Very easy walk.

Worth the drive out to see it. Hardly a "hike" but an easy walk out to the boardwalk. Lots of mosquitoes, but the view is fantastic! My wife and toddlers and I were all amazed at the size of the falls and how close we could get. $5 entrance fee to park.
